San Jose captain Patrick Marleau missed Monday's game against the Flames and will sit against the Oilers later this week as well.
Marleau suffered what coach Todd McLellan described Sunday as a "soft tissue" injury to the lower body in a minor collision with Coyotes left wing Nigel Dawes on Saturday.
"Patty came in, got a treatment today and didn't skate," McLellan said. "Everybody reacts differently and we'll see how he is in a couple of days."

Predators Lose Erat For Season
The Predators have lost forward Martin Erat for the season after he suffered a fractured left fibula in Sunday's win over the Red Wings.

Jackets Activate D Klesla, F Modin Off IR
The Columbus Blue Jackets have activated defenseman Rostislav Klesla and forward Fredrik Modin off injured reserve, club General Manager Scott Howson announced today. Both players are eligible to return to action tonight when the Jackets visit the Nashville Predators.
Klesla, who has collected one goal and five assists for six points with 23 penalty minutes and a +1 plus/minus rating in 23 games this season, has missed the past 10 games after being injured on February 10 vs. Colorado. Columbus? first pick, fourth overall, in the 2000 Entry Draft, he has registered 36-76-112 and 441 penalty minutes in 433 career games with the Blue Jackets.
Modin has tallied 9-16-25, 28 penalty minutes and is +2 in 49 games this season. He was injured late in a 5-1 win at Carolina on Feb. 14 and has missed the past eight games. A 12-year veteran, he has collected 220-221-441 and 413 penalty minutes in 813 career games with the Blue Jackets, Tampa Bay Lightning and Toronto Maple Leafs.
Wings' Hossa Hospitalized For Observation
Red Wings forward Marian Hossa was hospitalized for observation after crashing head-first into the boards after being checked in the first period of Tuesday night's game against the Blues, as reported by the Assoicated Press.
Hossa did not lose consciousness and had feeling in his limbs, team spokesman John Hahn said.
Jackets' Chimera To Have Groin Surgery, Will Miss 4-5 Weeks
Columbus Blue Jackets left wing Jason Chimera will undergo surgery on Wednesday to repair a groin injury and is expected to be sidelined four to five weeks, club General Manager Scott Howson announced tonight.
Chimera, who was placed on injured reserve on Monday, has appeared in 44 games with the Blue Jackets this season and tallied eight goals and 13 assists for 21 points with 35 penalty minutes and a +9 plus/minus rating. He has missed 18 games due to injury in 2008-09 after missing just one game in the previous three campaigns. Chimera has registered 73-81-154 and 412 penalty minutes in 417 career games with Columbus and Edmonton.
