Flyers Activate Briere From Injured Reserve
The Flyers have activated center Danny Briere from the injured reserve after missing 36 games with a groin strain.
Philadelphia also recalled defenseman Nate Guenin.
In a related move, the Flyers have loaned forward Claude Giroux and defenseman Lasse Kukkonen to the Phantoms.
Groin Shouldn't Sideline Crosby Against Islanders
Penguins captain Sidney Crosby left the team's practice on Tuesday with a groin injury, but he isn't expected to miss Wednesday's game against the Islanders.
"It was the same thing as (Monday), just aches and pains and there was concern in the groin area," interim coach Dan Bylsma said. "He warmed it up, went on the ice, and it was as good as it was (Monday). We thought it would be good to get some rest and get ready for (tonight). He's in a probable state right now for (tonight). We'll see in the morning."
Flyers' Briere Expects To Return On Friday
Philadelphia center Daniel Briere expects to play on Friday night against Montreal after missing 33 games with groin injuries this season.
"We had a pretty hard skate there at the end and we'll see tomorrow how it reacts," Briere said of practice on Monday.
"Last week, after Wednesday's skate, the next couple of days were a little tougher. I'm hoping that I'm going to pull over that hump, and even through a tough practice and tough skate, I can recuperate and be fine the next day."
Crosby Leaves Practice With Sore Groin
Penguins captain Sidney Crosby left practice early on Tuesday because of a sore groin, but is hoping to play Wednesday night against the Islanders.
Crosby's groin bothered him a few minutes into the practice and he decided to leave the ice.
Flames' Giordano Undergoes Shoulder Surgery
Flames defenseman Mark Giordano underwent shoulder surgery on Monday and is out indefinitely, according to a Yahoo.com report.
The blue-liner left Thursday?s victory over the Wild in the third period after receiving a check from Cal Clutterbuck.

Sabres goalie Ryan Miller is out indefinitely with a left ankle sprain that was suffered on Saturday against the Rangers.
"It's stiff and it's tender," Miller said. "These are things you have to kind of feel out. There's no timetable, really. It's your comfort level.
"Right now I just want to get through the night till the morning and see how my body reacts. I've had a few ankle sprains in my time, and each one's been different. We'll see how this one plays out."
Jackets Place D Tollefsen On IR; Recall D Rome From Syracuse
The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed defenseman Ole-Kristian Tollefsen on injured reserve and have recalled defenseman Aaron Rome from the American Hockey League?s Syracuse Crunch, club General Manager Scott Howson announced today. Tollefsen is expected to be sidelined four to six weeks with a lower body injury.
Tollefsen, 24, has collected one assist and 37 penalty minutes in 19 games this season. The Oslo, Norway native was Columbus? third pick, 65th overall, in the 2002 Entry Draft. He has registered four goals and six assists for 10 points and racked up 273 penalty minutes in 145 career NHL games.
Rome, 25, has tallied 7-21-28, 153 penalty minutes and a plus/minus rating of +7 in 48 games with the Crunch this season. He leads Syracuse defensemen in scoring, ranks second on the club in plus/minus and third in penalty minutes. The Nesbitt, Manitoba native has registered 27-95-122 and 666 penalty minutes in 318 career AHL games.
Los Angeles? fourth pick, 104th overall, in the 2002 Entry Draft, Rome made his NHL debut with the Anaheim Ducks in 2006-07 as he appeared in one regular season and one playoff game. He was acquired by the Blue Jackets along with defenseman Clay Wilson in exchange for forward Geoff Platt on Nov. 15, 2007. He tallied 1-1-2 and 33 penalty minutes in 17 games with the Blue Jackets in 2007-08.
Avs Recall D Campbell From Lake Erie; Place D Liles On IR
The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced today that the team has recalled defenseman Darcy Campbell from the Lake Erie Monsters of the American Hockey League.
Campbell, 24, has skated in 53 games for the Monsters this season, tallying 11 points (4g/7a) with a +1 plus/minus rating and 51 penalty minutes. The Airdrie, Alberta native was acquired by the Avalanche from Columbus, along with Philippe Dupuis, in exchange for Mark Rycroft on Jan. 22, 2008. He has played one NHL game, making his debut for the Blue Jackets on March 30, 2007 at Chicago.
In addition, the Avalanche has placed defenseman John-Michael Liles on the Injured Reserve list (retroactive to Feb. 15) due to a wrist injury.
