Isles Lose Johnny Boychuk For Three To Four Weeks

New York Islanders defenseman Johnny Boychuk will miss three to four weeks with a lower-body injury, general manager Lou Lamoriello said Friday.

Boychuk was injured in the second period of the Islanders' series-clinching win over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday. 

The timeline would knock Boychuk out for at least the team's second-round series.

Carolina Hurricanes forward Andrei Svechnikov, 19, is in the concussion protocol after being knocked out by Alex Ovechkin in a fight during Monday night's game.

Hurricanes coach Rod Brind'Amour made the announcement, saying he assumed that Svechnikov would miss Thursday's Game 4.

The injury suffered by Edmonton Oilers star Connor McDavid in the regular-season finale was to his posterior cruciate ligament, a source confirmed to ESPN.

The injury does not require surgery, and McDavid is expected to be ready for training camp in September, according to the source. The diagnosis was first reported Saturday by TSN.

Landeskog was hurt midway through the third period of Thursday night's game against the Dallas Stars after he collided with Dallas goaltender Ben Bishop.

Bednar called missing Landeskog, a "huge loss."

Detroit's Mike Green To Miss Rest Of Season With Virus

The Detroit Red Wings will be without Mike Green for the remainder of the season because of a lingering virus that has sapped his energy.

Green, 33, missed the beginning of the season because of the virus, which has attacked his liver.

After the latest flare-up, he saw a specialist who recommended multiple weeks of rest.

He is under contract for one more year after this one, with a cap hit of $5.375 million.
