In his second game after returning from long-term injured reserve, Ottawa Senators defenseman Thomas Chabot suffered a leg injury and will miss a minimum of four weeks, per a TSN report Thursday.

The oft-injured Chabot missed Tuesday's 6-2 win over the visiting New York Rangers after injuring his leg Saturday in a 2-0 home victory over the Seattle Kraken.

Chabot, 26, is expected to land on long-term injured reserve, per a Postmedia report. He won't need surgery, but he will be required to miss 10 games and 24 days.

Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman John Klingberg will have hip surgery at the end of month and miss the remainder of the season, general manager Brad Treliving announced Wednesday.

"I'll have a better idea as we finalize what is going to get done and ultimately once they do the procedure of how long rehab is going to be, but it's safe to say a five- to six-month range," Treliving said.

Alex Newhook is expected to miss approximately 10 to 12 weeks with a high ankle sprain, the Montreal Canadiens announced Saturday.

Newhook was driving toward the net in the third period of the Canadiens' 5-1 loss Thursday to the Florida Panthers when his angle toward the goal was taken away, leading to a collision where Newhook lost his footing and went leg-first into the net. Newhook went to the Canadiens' bench to receive treatment and did not return.

Dougie Hamilton, the New Jersey Devils' top defenseman, is out indefinitely after having surgery to repair a torn left pectoral muscle Friday.

Hamilton, 30, has 16 points in 20 games for the Devils, skating a team-high 20:59 per game. He had been running the second unit of New Jersey's power play, which ranks first in the NHL (35.6%).

New York Islanders defenseman Adam Pelech has been placed on long-term injured reserve Saturday, one day after he sustained an upper-body injury in a game against the Ottawa Senators.

Pelech was injured on his second shift of the first period and did not return to the contest.

He will be required to miss at least 10 games and 24 calendar days after being placed on long-term injured reserve.

Also on Saturday, the Islanders placed rugged forward Matt Martin on injured reserve with an upper-body injury. The move is retroactive to Nov. 15.

Tampa Bay Lightning goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy was activated off injured reserve Friday and will make his season debut against the host Carolina Hurricanes later in the night, coach Jon Cooper announced.

Vasilevskiy underwent surgery to repair a lumbar disc herniation in his back in September. Jonas Johansson (8-4-5, 3.41 goals-against average, .894 save percentage) made the bulk of the starts in his absence, with Matt Tomkins adding three appearances before being placed on waivers.

Former Hart Trophy winner and five-time NHL All-Star Taylor Hall is expected to miss the rest of the season to undergo surgery on his right knee, the Chicago Blackhawks announced Thursday.

Hall, who had two goals and four points in 10 games, last played Sunday in the Blackhawks' 3-2 loss to the Buffalo Sabres. He logged more than 17 minutes.

Montreal Canadiens forward Rafael Harvey-Pinard will be sidelined eight weeks and defenseman Jordan Harris is out indefinitely due to their respective lower-body injuries, the team announced Tuesday.

Blue Jackets defenseman Damon Severson is expected to be out six weeks after suffering an oblique injury in the struggling team's latest loss.

General manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced Severson's prognosis Tuesday that will likely keep the 29-year-old out until after the New Year.
