The Sabres signed Lindy Ruff to a multiyear contract extension Friday, keeping the franchise's all-time winningest coach in the fold for another run at a championship that has eluded the team since its birth in 1970, according to an ESPN.com report.

Leafs Sign Goaltender Mark Owuya

Brian Burke, President and GM of the Maple Leafs, announced Thursday that the club has signed goaltender Mark Owuya to a two-year entry level contract. Owuya, a 21-year-old native of Stockholm, Sweden, played 32 games this season for Djurgarden of the Swedish Elite League posting a 2.18 goals against average and a league best .927 goals against average. The goaltender also played in seven playoff games for Djurgarden registering a 1.66 goals against average and a .934 save percentage. Internationally, Owuya won a silver medal with Sweden at the 2009 IIHF World Junior Championships and a bronze medal at the 2007 IIHF World Under-18 Championships.

Coyotes Sign Brett Hextall To Pro Contract

Coyotes GM Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have signed forward Brett Hextall to an entry-level contract. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. Hextall appeared in 39 games as a Junior with the U. of North Dakota Fighting Sioux this season, registering 13-16-29 and 63 penalty minutes. In three seasons at North Dakota, Hextall led his team to two Frozen Four Finals while recording 39-42-81 and 242 penalty minutes in 115 career games. The 23-year-old was tied for third on the Fighting Sioux in power play goals this season with six. He finished his career with 19 and is North Dakota's active leader. He is the son of former NHL goaltender Ron Hextall who played 13 seasons. Hextall was drafted by the Coyotes in the sixth round (159th overall) in the 2008 Entry Draft.

Kings Sign Tyler Toffoli, Jordan Weal

The Kings have signed forwards Tyler Toffoli and Jordan Weal to three-year entry level contracts, Kings President/GM Dean Lombardi announced Monday. Toffoli, who turns 19 on Sunday, was selected by the Kings in the second round (47th overall) in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, which was held at STAPLES Center. He has played the past three seasons with the Ottawa 67’s of the Ontario Hockey League, and this past season he recorded 108 points (tied for first in the OHL). Weal, who turned 19 this past Friday, was selected by the Kings in the third round (70th overall) in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. He has played the past four seasons with the Regina Pats of the Western Hockey League, and this past season he recorded 96 points.

Avalanche Sign Brad Malone To Entry Level Deal

The Avalanche announced Wednesday that the team has signed forward Brad Malone to an entry-level deal. He will report to Colorado’s AHL affiliate, the Lake Erie Monsters, for the start of the AHL playoffs. Malone, 21, just completed his senior season at the University of North Dakota (WCHA), where he helped the Fighting Sioux advance to the 2011 NCAA Frozen Four. Malone ranked fifth on the Sioux in scoring with 40 points and added a team-high 108 penalty minutes in 43 games. “Brad just finished a strong four-year college career and we look forward to him beginning his pro career with Lake Erie,” said Avalanche GM / Executive Vice President Greg Sherman.

Leafs Sign Matt Frattin To Entry Level Deal

Brian Burke, President and GM of the Maple Leafs, announced Friday that the club has signed forward Matt Frattin to a two-year entry level contract. The Leafs originally selected Frattin with their second choice, 99th overall in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. He is expected to be in the lineup tomorrow night for the Maple Leafs when they host the Canadiens. Frattin, a 23-year-old native of Edmonton, Alberta was a finalist for the 2011 Hobey Baker Award, which is an annual award given to the top NCAA men’s hockey player. Frattin played 44 games for the University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux this season and led the NCAA with 36 goals.

GM Murray Signs 3-Year Extension

GM Bryan Murray signed a three-year contract extension with the Senators, who will miss the playoffs for the second time in three seasons. The contract of the 68-year-old executive was set to expire this summer. Murray said at a Scotiabank Place news conference Friday that he has met frequently with Senators owner Eugene Melnyk this season to discuss his future and that of the team.

Coyotes GM Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have signed goaltender Mark Visentin to an entry-level contract. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. “We are very pleased to sign Mark,” said Maloney. “He had a strong season with Niagara and Team Canada and has continued to excel in the playoffs. He is a terrific prospect and we look forward to watching his development in the future.” Visentin appeared in 46 games with the Niagara Ice Dogs (OHL) this season posting a record of 30-9-2-4.

Leafs Sign Greg McKegg To 3-Year, Entry Level Deal

Brian Burke, President and GM of the Maple Leafs, announced Wednesday that the hockey club has signed forward Greg McKegg to a three-year entry level contract. McKegg was originally the Leafs’ second choice, selected 62nd overall in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. He will report to the AHL Marlies on Friday. McKegg played 66 games for the OHL’s Erie Otters this season and led Erie in goals (49), points (92) and powerplay goals (17). The St. Thomas, Ontario native ranked second on the Otters in assists (43) and third in plus/minus (+20). He also finished tied for second in OHL goals and eighth in points. McKegg was named the OHL Player of the Week on three occasions this season including: September 27 – October 3, November 22 – 28 and February 14 – 20.
