Coyotes GM Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have signed forward Brett Hextall to an entry-level contract. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. Hextall appeared in 39 games as a Junior with the U. of North Dakota Fighting Sioux this season, registering 13-16-29 and 63 penalty minutes. In three seasons at North Dakota, Hextall led his team to two Frozen Four Finals while recording 39-42-81 and 242 penalty minutes in 115 career games. The 23-year-old was tied for third on the Fighting Sioux in power play goals this season with six. He finished his career with 19 and is North Dakota's active leader. He is the son of former NHL goaltender Ron Hextall who played 13 seasons. Hextall was drafted by the Coyotes in the sixth round (159th overall) in the 2008 Entry Draft.
