The Kings have signed forward Trent Hunter to a one-year contract, Kings President/GM Dean Lombardi announced today.
Hunter, 31, has spent his entire NHL career (2002-03 through 2010-11) with the Islanders. Last season he recorded four points and 23 penalty minutes in 17 games, missing most of the season with a lower body injury.
The native of Red Deer, Alberta has accumulated 229 career points and 201 penalty minutes during his eight-year NHL career. Hunter has also appeared in 14 career NHL playoff games, recording five points and six penalty minutes.
He was originally selected by Anaheim in the sixth round (150th overall) in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft. The Ducks dealt Hunter to the Islanders on May 23, 2000 for a fourth-round selection in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.

Jason Chimera Re-Signs With Caps
The Capitals re-signed left wing Jason Chimera to a two-year contract, the team announced Thursday, according to an ESPN.com report.
The deal is for $3.5M, a source told ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun, with Chimera receiving $1.8M the first year and $1.7M the second.
Canadiens Sign Chris Campoli
The Canadiens have signed veteran defenseman Chris Campoli to a one-year contract worth $1.75M.
Campoli was an unrestricted free agent after the Blackhawks walked away from his $2.5M arbitration award earlier this summer.
He had 21 points (4 goals, 17 assists) in 77 games last season with Ottawa and Chicago.
Kings Sign Cam Paddock, Alex Roach
The Kings have signed forward Cam Paddock to a one-year contract and defenseman Alex Roach to a three-year entry level contract, Kings President/GM Dean Lombardi announced today.
Paddock, 28, played last season in Germany with the Iserlohn Roosters where he collected 17 points and 40 penalty minutes in 46 regular season games. The native of Vancouver, British Columbia has appeared in 16 career NHL regular season games – all with St. Louis during the 2008-09 season. Paddock, who was originally selected by Pittsburgh in the fifth-round (137th overall) in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, recorded two goals and three points in those 16 NHL games.
Roach, 18, played last season with Calgary in the Western Hockey League where he collected 16 points and 77 penalty minutes in 61 regular season games. The 6-4, 219-pound native of Quensel, Quebec attended Kings 2011 Training Camp as a tryout before signing his deal and then being re-assigned to his junior team in Calgary.

Blue Jackets forward R.J. Umberger has signed a five-year contract extension that will keep him with the club through the 2016-17 season.
The deal is worth $23M, with an average of $4.6M annually, a source told ESPN.com.
Sabres Add Teppo Numminen To Coaching Staff
The Sabres have hired former defenseman Teppo Numminen as an assistant coach, according to an ESPN.com report.
Head coach Lindy Ruff announced the move on Saturday as the Sabres opened training camp.
Tavares Signs Deal With Islanders
Twenty minutes before a team-scheduled news conference, John Tavares officially signed a six-year contract extension that will keep him an Islander through 2018.
The deal is worth $33M, a source told ESPNNewYork.com Wednesday. Tavares will receive $4M in the first year, $5M in the second, then $6M each of remaining four years, a source told ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun.
Bogosian Agrees To Deal With Jets
Zach Bogosian has a new contract in time for the start of training camp with the Winnipeg Jets.
The 21-year-old defenseman signed a $5M, two-year deal Wednesday.
Bogosian was a restricted free agent who waited all summer to get a new contract.
Avs Sign Kyle Cumiskey To One-Year Deal
The Avalanche announced on Friday that the team has signed defenseman Kyle Cumiskey to a one-year contract through the 2011-12 season.
"We are pleased to have Kyle under contract and look forward to seeing him at training camp," said Avalanche GM/Executive Vice President Greg Sherman.
Cumiskey, 24, tallied eight points, but was limited to 18 games with Colorado in 2010-11, due to injuries.
Colorado's ninth selection (seventh round, 222nd overall) in the 2005 Entry Draft, Cumiskey has skated in 132 career NHL games, tallying 35 points. The Abbotsford, B.C., native led all Colorado defensemen with seven goals and finished with 20 points in 61 games in 2009-10.
Pens Sign Richard Park To One-Year Deal
The Penguins have signed veteran forward Richard Park to a one-year contract, according to an ESPN.com report.
Park, 35, spent last season playing for Geneve Servette of the Swiss National League, where he had 15 goals and 19 assists in 47 games.
