Kronwall Gets Seven-Year Extension

The Red Wings signed defenseman Nicklas Kronwall to a seven-year contract extension Monday. He would have been an unrestricted free agent July 1. The total value of Kronwall's contract is $33.25M. The deal carries an annual salary-cap hit of $4.75M per season.

Bruins Sign Peverley To Extension

The Bruins have signed forward Rich Peverley to a three-year contract extension. Peverley's deal averages $3.25 million per season and will kick in after this season and run through the 2014-15 campaign, according to a source. He was acquired by the Bruins in February from the Thrashers in exchange for defenseman Mark Stuart and forward Blake Wheeler.

Coyotes Sign Hanzal To Five-Year Deal

Coyotes GM Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have signed forward Martin Hanzal to a five-year contract extension. “We are very pleased to sign Martin to a five-year contract extension,” said Maloney. “Martin is a big, strong, skilled center and a core member of our team. He contributes at both ends of the ice and we are confident he will continue to improve to become one of the NHL’s best two-way centers.” Last season, Hanzal appeared in 61 regular season games for the Coyotes, registering 16-10-26 and 54 penalty minutes. He established new career highs in goals (16), game-winning goals (5), power play goals (7) and hits (147). Hanzal was the Coyotes’ first choice in the first round (17th overall) in the 2005 Entry Draft.

Coyotes Sign Bissonnette To Two-Year Extension

Coyotes GM Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have signed forward Paul Bissonnette to a two-year contract extension. “We are very pleased to sign Paul to a multi-year extension,” said Maloney. “He plays an important role on our team and we are looking for him to take his game to the next level this season.” Last season, Bissonnette appeared in 48 regular season games with the Coyotes, registering one goal and a team-high 71 PIM. Bissonnette was claimed off waivers by the Coyotes on Sept. 30, 2009. He was originally drafted in the fourth round (121st overall) by the Penguins in the 2003 Entry Draft.

Doughty's Signs Longest Deal In Kings' History

The Kings, after reaching a verbal agreement last night, have signed restricted free agent defenseman Drew Doughty to an eight-year contract, Kings President/GM Dean Lombardi announced today. The eight-year contract is the longest player contract in club history. Kings center Anze Kopitar and defenseman Jack Johnson both signed seven-year contracts, and former Kings great/Hall of Famer Wayne Gretzky signed an eight-year contract in 1988 (after the first year that contract was extended from seven years to nine years).
