Miikka Salomaki Signs Two-Year, $1.5M Deal With Predators

The Nashville Predators have signed Miikka Salomaki to a two-year contract worth $750,000 in each of the next two seasons.

Salomaki was a restricted free agent.

Salomaki, 25, played 58 games last season for the Predators with two goals and six assists.

Jarome Iginla is retiring from the NHL after 20 seasons.

Iginla made the announcement in Calgary where he spent 16 seasons with the Flames.

Iginla assisted on one of the most famous goals in Canadian hockey history.

Iginla set up Sidney Crosby for the overtime winner in the final of the Olympic men's hockey tournament in Vancouver in 2010.

Capitals Re-Sign Tom Wilson To Six-Year, $31.02M Deal

The Washington Capitals have re-signed Tom Wilson to a six-year, $31.02 million deal.

The contract carries a $5.17 million salary-cap hit through the 2023-24 season. 

Wilson had 14 goals and 21 assists for 35 points last season. 

The 2012 first-round pick became a top-line winger this past season playing with captain Alex Ovechkin.

Hockey great Mario Lemieux's 50-room Quebec summer home is up for sale.

The price of the 6-year-old chateau-style Mont-Tremblant residence: $21,999,066, the last few dollars an ode to Lemieux's famous No. 66.

Realtor Michel Naud said the asking price was strategic as the Pittsburgh Penguins owner knew putting the property on the market would generate heavy interest. "He agreed to put the $66 at the end of his asking price," Naud said.

Six-time All-Star Jarome Iginla will announce his retirement July 30 at the Saddledome, the Calgary Flames said on Wednesday.

"In a sense, I grew up there,'' Iginla said, according to the Flames. "I started playing for the Flames at 19 but even in minor hockey I remember traveling to Calgary for tournaments, from St. Albert, and I imagined playing in the Saddledome.

"It's been a fun adventure, for my family and I. Some great cities, great people. To be back in Alberta, though, will feel like home."
