The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed center Jake Guentzel to a five-year contract extension with an average annual value of $6 million, the team announced Thursday.
The deal begins next season and will tie Guentzel to Pittsburgh through the 2023-24 season.

Scott Gordon, the coach of the Flyers' AHL affiliate, will serve as interim head coach. Gordon has NHL head-coaching experience with the New York Islanders (2008-10).
Despite a report on Sunday that the Philadelphia Flyers made a coaching change, a team spokesperson confirmed that "Dave Hakstol is our coach."

The St. Louis Blues have signed veteran defenseman Robert Bortuzzo to a three-year extension worth $1.375 million per season.
St. Louis general manager Doug Armstrong announced Bortuzzo's $4.125 million contract extension Saturday. Bortuzzo is now signed through the 2021-22 season.
The Ducks announced today that the club has acquired right wing Adam Cracknell from the Maple Leafs in exchange for defenseman Steven Oleksy.
Cracknell, 33, has earned 21-22=43 points with a +4 rating in 208 career NHL games with St. Louis (2010-14), Columbus (2014-15), Vancouver (2015-16), Edmonton (2015-16), Dallas (2016-18) and the New York Rangers (2017-18).
Oleksy, 32, collected two assists with 36 PIM in 15 AHL games with the San Diego Gulls (AHL) this season. Signed as a free agent on July 1, 2017, Oleksy owns 20-89=109 points in 388 career AHL games.
The Ducks announced today that the club has extended the contract of Executive Vice President/General Manager Bob Murray for two additional seasons. Murray is now under contract through the 2021-22 NHL season.
