The Carolina Hurricanes have agreed to terms on a two-year, $4 million contract extension with forward Jordan Martinook.

The extension will kick in for the 2019-20 season.

Martinook, 26, has 10 goals and three assists in 50 games while leading the team with 125 hits and blocking 28 shots -- the most by a Carolina forward.

Columbus announced Monday that it was hiring Hall of Famer Martin St. Louis as a special-teams consultant. The team is still developing St. Louis' exact role.

The New Jersey Devils have given head coach John Hynes a multiyear contract extension.

Hynes, 43, led the Devils to their first playoff appearance in five years last season, but they are struggling this season. With a 15-17-7 record, they're in seventh place in the Metropolitan Division.

Hynes' overall record since being hired in June 2015 is 125-122.
