The Sharks are bringing back former Florida Panthers coach Bob Boughner as an assistant, the team announced Wednesday.

Boughner will replace Rob Zettler on coach Peter DeBoer's staff.

Dave Tippett has been hired as the 16th head coach of the Edmonton Oilers -- and the third of superstar Connor McDavid's five-year career.

Tippett, 57, previously coached the Dallas Stars (2002-09) and the Phoenix/Arizona Coyotes (2009-17), with a career record of 553-413-28-120.

New York Islanders forward Brock Nelson has parlayed a career season into a new six-year contract.

The Islanders announced that Nelson had signed the new deal on Thursday. The total value of the contract is $36 million, according to multiple reports.

The Ottawa Senators named D.J. Smith the team's new coach on Thursday. Smith, who is the 14th coach in the franchise's history, has been an assistant coach with the Toronto Maple Leafs the past four seasons.
