The Colorado Avalanche signed top line winger Mikko Rantanen to a six-year, $55.5 million deal Saturday, taking another big-name restricted free agent off the board.
Rantanen's deal runs through the 2024-25 season and carries an average annual value of $9.25 million, though the salaries per year fluctuate -- including $12 million in each of the first two years and $6 million in the final year.
The Seattle NHL franchise has hired its first round of scouts -- including former Team USA star and Hockey Hall of Famer Cammi Granato, who will become the NHL's first female pro scout.
Granato's hiring continues a trend for the NHL's newest team -- scheduled to enter the league for the 2021-22 season -- which is committed to "a diverse slate of candidates for every role." The franchise is currently at just over 60 employees; more than 50 percent of its vice presidents are females.
Another of the big restricted free agents is off the board with the Tampa Bay Lightning signing center Brayden Point to a three-year, $20.25 million deal.

Thomas Chabot has agreed to an eight-year, $64 million contract extension with the Ottawa Senators.
Chabot had one season remaining on his entry-level deal.
"At the end of the day, to be here for the next nine years and build something together with the group and get something going and be a real competitive team within the next couple years, this can only be exciting," Chabot said.
Chabot was the 18th pick in the 2015 NHL Draft.
The Philadelphia Flyers wrapped up another of their key free agents by signing forward Travis Konecny to a six-year, $33 million deal.
"We are happy to have Travis under contract for the next six seasons," general manager Chuck Fletcher said in a statement Monday. "Travis has shown progression in each of his three seasons and is an integral part of our group of young forwards. His speed, skill and tenacity sets him apart in today's NHL."
The Boston Bruins have two of their young, key blueliners under contract for a couple of years after signing restricted free agent Brandon Carlo to a two-year deal Tuesday.
The team announced that the contract carries an annual average value of $2.85 million.
Another top restricted free agent signed with his current team Sunday when defenseman Charlie McAvoy inked a three-year, $14.7 million deal.
Bruins general manager Don Sweeney made the announcement that the 21-year-old would remain with the team, just days after training camp began.
Minnesota Wild defenseman Jared Spurgeon, coming off a career season, has signed a seven-year, $53.025 million contract extension, the team announced Saturday.
The Flyers have signed defenseman Ivan Provorov to a six-year, $40.5 million contract.
The deal on Friday with the 22-year-old restricted free agent from Russia has an average annual value of $6.75 million.
