Maple Leafs, Roman Polak Agree To One-Year Deal

The Maple Leafs announced today that the club has agreed to terms with defenceman Roman Polak to a one-year contract worth $1.1M.

Polak, 31, has registered 23 goals and 92 assists in 634 career NHL games with the Maple Leafs, Sharks and Blues. In 2016-17, he collected 11 points (four goals, seven assists) in 75 regular season games with Toronto while also skating in two playoff games.

The Ostrava, Czech Republic native was originally selected by St. Louis in the sixth round (180th overall) of the 2004 NHL Draft.

Jaromir Jagr Signs One-Year Deal With Flames

Jaromir Jagr will play a 24th season in the NHL and his first with a Canadian team. The Calgary Flames announced Wednesday that they have signed the future Hall of Famer to a one-year, $1 million contract.

Jagr had been flirting with the idea of playing in his native Czech Republic with no deal with an NHL team on the horizon.

Blue Jackets Re-Sign Josh Anderson

The Blue Jackets re-signed Josh Anderson to a $5.55 million, three-year deal after the forward missed training camp and the preseason because he didn't have a contract.

General manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced the contract Tuesday on the eve of the start of the regular season. Anderson, who was a restricted free agent, will count $1.85 million against the salary cap through 2019-20.
