Blackhawks Sign Michal Kempny To One-Year Deal

The Chicago Blackhawks have agreed to a one-year contract with defenseman Michal Kempny.

Kempny was set to become a restricted free agent July 1. The extension runs through the 2017-18 season.

Kempny had two goals and six assists in his first season with the Blackhawks.

Coyotes Name Steve Sullivan Assistant GM

The Arizona Coyotes have named former player Steve Sullivan as an assistant to general manager John Chayka.

Sullivan will serve as GM for the Tucson Roadrunners of the AHL and oversee the Coyotes' amateur player development staff, according to news release Thursday.

Rangers Name Chris Drury GM Of AHL Wolf Pack

The Rangers named Chris Drury the general manager of the Wolf Pack, their AHL affiliate in Hartford, while also firing Ken Gernander, who was the coach of the club.

Drury, who has been an assistant general manager with the Rangers for the past year, replaces Jim Schoenfeld, who will now focus solely on his role as a Rangers senior vice president and assistant general manager.

The Stars have signed goaltender Ben Bishop to a six-year, $29.5 million deal.

General manager Jim Nill announced the terms Friday, less than a week after acquiring the rights to Bishop from the Kings for a fourth-round pick in next month's draft.

Bishop, 30, was set to be an unrestricted free agent this summer had Dallas not signed him before July 1.

Sabres Hire Jason Botterill As GM

Jason Botterill is leaving the Pittsburgh Penguins' bid to defend their Stanley Cup title for an opportunity to build the Buffalo Sabres into a contender as general manager.

The Sabres hired the Penguins' associate GM on Thursday to lead a franchise that owner Terry Pegula criticized for lacking structure and discipline.

"Jason's hockey knowledge, experience drafting and developing players, and his approach to management stood out to us during our interview process. Vegas Golden Knights Sign Vadim Shipachyov To Two-Year, $9M Deal

The expansion Vegas Golden Knights have signed free-agent Russian forward Vadim Shipachyov to a two-year, $9 million contract.

General manager George McPhee announced the deal Thursday night.

Shipachyov, 30, had 26 goals and 50 assists in 50 games this season for SKA St. Petersburg to finish third in the Kontinental Hockey League scoring race. He added four goals and 15 assists in 17 playoff games to help St. Petersburg win its second title in three years.

Flames Sign GM Brad Treliving To New Deal

The Flames have signed general manager Brad Treliving to a multiyear contract extension.

"We are striving to create a level of continuity and stability, as all successful teams do," Flames president of hockey operations Brian Burke said in a statement. "Today's announcement is another step forward for our organization on that path. Under Brad's leadership, we have seen progress over the past three seasons and look forward to building on that growth in the coming years."

The Flames have gone 125-108-18 over three seasons since Treliving's hiring, including playoff appearances in 2014-15 and this past season.
