Canucks Hire John Tororella

The Canucks hired John Tortorella to be their new head coach on Tuesday, according to an ESPN.com report.

Tortorella was recently fired by the Rangers after they lost to the Bruins in the second round of the playoffs in five games.

The 55-year-old Tortorella replaces Alain Vigneault, who took over for him as the Rangers head coach last week.

Jhonas Enroth Signs Two-Year Deal With Sabres

Unsure whether they will be forced to trade  No. 1 goaltender Ryan Miller before his contract expires after next season, the Sabres hedged their bets by re-signing Jhonas Enroth to a two-year extension.

A source told ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun that Enroth's deal is worth $1.25M per season.

Joe Piskula Signs One-Year Deal With Predators

Predators President of Hockey Operations/GM David Poile announced today that the club has signed defenseman Joe Piskula to a one-year, two-way contract worth $550,000 at the NHL level and $135,000 at the AHL level.

Piskula, 28, was acquired by the Predators from the Flames on Feb. 28, 2013, and split last season between Abbotsford and Milwaukee (AHL), posting 10 points and 51 penalty minutes in 46 games for the Heat and four points and 15 penalty minutes in 23 games for the Admirals.

Lightning Sign Reto Suri To One-Year Deal

The Lightning have signed forward Reto Suri to a one-year contract, two-way contract, vice president and GM Steve Yzerman announced today.

Suri, 24, skated in 46 games this past season with Zug of the Swiss National League A, recording 14 goals and 25 points to go along with 34 penalty minutes. 

The 6-foot, 185-pound forward represented his native Switzerland in the 2013 IIHF World Championships, helping them win the Silver Medal. 

Suri led Rapperswil-Jona of the Swiss National League A in goals in both the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons. During the two seasons while playing for Rapperswil-Jona he recorded 28 goals and 53 points in 99 games.

Colton Orr Re-Signs With Leafs

Maple Leafs GM Dave Nonis announced Thursday that the team has signed Colton Orr to a new two-year NHL contract.

Orr, 31, joined the Maple Leafs as a free agent on July 1, 2009. He played in 44 of 48 regular season games for Toronto this past season and collected four points (1 goal, 3 assists) while leading the NHL in penalty minutes with 155.

Penguins Give Bylsma Extension

Dan Bylsma will continue on as head coach of the Penguins after signing a two-year contract extension through the 2015-16 season.

GM Ray Shero announced the deal Wednesday morning. Assistant coaches Tony Granato and Todd Reirden will also be retained.

Oilers Hire Eakins As New Head Coach

The Oilers have hired Dallas Eakins as their new coach, replacing the fired Ralph Krueger, according to an ESPN.com report on Monday.

Eakins is the fourth coach in the past five seasons for the Oilers.

"This isn't about winning one game or winning one season," Eakins said. "We want to be in the mix every year to win."
