Ducks' Nate Thompson Has Shoulder Surgery

Ducks center Nate Thompson will be out for five to six months after undergoing surgery to repair two labral tears in his left shoulder.

The Ducks announced the results of Thompson's surgery Friday.

Pascal Dupuis Cleared To Play

Penguins forward Pascal Dupuis has been cleared to return to full-contact workouts after missing most of the 2014-15 season due to blood clots. General manager Jim Rutherford said Thursday that the blood clot has dissolved and doctors say Dupuis can play, though he will continue to take blood thinners.

Rangers' Girardi, Staal Undergo Successful Surgeries

Rangers President and GM Glen Sather announced today that Dan Girardi underwent a bursa excision on his ankle and Marc Staal had a bone chip removed from his ankle. Both players are expected to be fully recovered prior to the start of training camp. The surgeries were performed yesterday by Dr. David Levine at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City.

Girardi, 31, skated in all 82 regular season games with the Rangers in 2014-15, registering four goals and 16 assists for 20 points.

Staal, 28, skated in 80 regular season games with the Rangers in 2014-15, registering five goals and 15 assists for 20 points.

Rangers' Zuccarello Had Small Skull Fracture

Rangers forward Mats Zuccarello could not speak for four days after being hit in the head by a shot in the opening round of the playoffs and sustaining a small skull fracture and some bleeding.

Three days after the Rangers lost Game 7 of the Eastern Conference final to the Lightning, Zuccarello discussed his injury for the first time on Monday.

He missed the last two rounds of the playoffs and said it was unlikely that he would have returned had the Rangers advanced to the Stanley Cup final.
