Wings Lose Cole For The Rest Of The Season

Red Wings forward Erik Cole will miss the rest of the season because of a spine contusion, according to an ESPN.com report.

A team spokesman said Wednesday that Cole has been advised by doctors not to play the remainder of the regular season and playoffs because of the contusion suffered March 24 against Arizona.

He has played 11 games for the Red Wings, scoring three goals and adding three assists.

Brad Richards Out Three Games; Kyle Baun Will Make Debut

Blackhawks forward Brad Richards will miss the final three regular-season games due to an upper-body injury but is expected to return for the playoffs, coach Joel Quenneville said Tuesday.

Quenneville didn't reveal when or how Richards suffered the injury. 

Chicago's Kyle Baun will make his NHL debut in place of Richards against the Wild on Tuesday. Baun signed with the Blackhawks on March 26 after completing his junior season at Colgate.

Kane Practices With Hawks, Return Uncertain

Blackhawks star forward Patrick Kane participated in his first team practice Wednesday since fracturing his clavicle, but his 12-week return timetable has not changed.

Kane has yet to be cleared for contact and wore a white non-contact jersey during practice on Wednesday. Aside from contact, he is not permitted to take one-timers or slap shots yet.

“Feels good,” Kane said following practice.
