The Florida Panthers are signing Eric Staal, adding the veteran forward to a roster that also includes his younger brother Marc.

Staal is signing a one-year, $750,000 contract, sources told ESPN's Emily Kaplan.

Sonny Milano signed a one-year, $750,000 contract with the Washington Capitals on Sunday.

The 26-year-old forward will be placed on waivers for the purpose of being loaned to Hershey of the American Hockey League, the Capitals said.

The Philadelphia Flyers signed defenseman Travis Sanheim to an eight-year, $50 million contract, the team announced on Thursday.

The deal will have an average annual value of $6.25 million.

"Obviously, I'm really excited. It's a huge day not only for me, but for my family and friends as well," said Sanheim in a statement.

Veteran defenseman Anton Stralman parlayed his training camp tryout with the Boston Bruins into a contract with them, signing a $1 million deal for this season.

The Bruins announced the agreement Wednesday before facing the Washington Capitals in each team's season opener. Stralman won't be eligible to play until he gets a new work visa, and there's no timetable for when that will happen.

The Buffalo Sabres continued locking up their young core of players by signing defenseman Mattias Samuelsson to a seven-year, $30 million contract on Wednesday.

Samuelsson, 22, established himself as one of the team's top blueliners in his second NHL season last year. 

The Buffalo Sabres signed coach Don Granato to a two-year contract extension Wednesday, rewarding him for the team's improvement in his first full season.

Granato had two years left on his existing contract and is now locked up through the 2025-26 season. He will make just under $2 million in each season of the extension, not including bonuses, a person with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press. 

Zach Aston-Reese signed a one-year, $840,630 contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday.

The 28-year-old forward was in training camp on a professional tryout contract. He had two points (one goal, one assist) and eight hits in four preseason games.

Darryl Sutter has signed a multiyear extension to remain head coach of the Calgary Flames, the team announced Saturday.

Sutter won his first career Jack Adams Award last year in his 20th season as a coach. In his second stint as coach of the Flames, Sutter led the team to a Pacific Division championship with the sixth-most points in the league.

MacKenzie Weegar signed an eight-year, $50 million contract with the Calgary Flames on Friday that begins next season. It has an average annual value of $6.25 million.

The 28-year-old defenseman is in the final season of a three-year contract he signed with the Florida Panthers on Nov. 6, 2020, and could have become an unrestricted free agent after the season.

Jason Robertson has signed a $31 million, four-year contract with the Dallas Stars after the young 40-goal scorer missed the first two weeks of training camp.

The Stars announced the deal late Wednesday night, after their exhibition game in Denver, only a week before the regular-season opener Oct. 13 at Nashville.
