Following an internal investigation, the Chicago Blackhawks said Tuesday they have placed veteran winger Corey Perry on unconditional waivers for the purposes of terminating his contract.

Perry had initially taken a leave of absence from the team. Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson told reporters Saturday that the decision to send Perry away from the team was made by management. Perry's agent, Pat Morris, said in a statement that same day that it was Perry's decision to leave the Blackhawks.

Edmonton Oilers goaltender Jack Campbell was placed on waivers Tuesday, making it the latest development for a preseason Stanley Cup contender that currently has the second-worst record in the NHL.

The Oilers placed Campbell on waivers for the purpose of assignment with the intent that he will play for their AHL affiliate, the Bakersfield Condors, in an attempt to gain the sort of consistency that has eluded him this season.

The Colorado Avalanche claimed goaltender Ivan Prosvetov off waivers from the Arizona Coyotes on Monday.

The Tampa Bay Lightning terminated the contract of veteran forward Josh Archibald on Saturday after the offseason acquisition told the team he was taking time off from hockey.

The Lightning signed free agent Tyler Motte to replace him on a one-year, $800,000 deal.

"I was informed by Josh's agent, and by Josh himself in a subsequent conversation, that he was not planning on playing hockey for the time being and that he would not be reporting to training camp," Lightning general manager Julien BriseBois said. "Consequently, Josh was placed on unconditional waivers ... for the purpose of terminating his contract."

The Philadelphia Flyers will buy out the last season of defenseman Tony DeAngelo's contract, making him an unrestricted free agent and ending his turbulent tenure with the team.

General manager Daniel Briere announced Friday that DeAngelo had been placed on unconditional waivers.

Detroit Red Wings forward Filip Zadina, the No. 6 overall draft pick in 2018, will remain with the organization after clearing waivers on Tuesday.

Zadina still has two years left on his contract with a salary cap hit of $1.825 million and $4.56 million owed in cash, likely explaining why he went unclaimed.

The Detroit Red Wings placed forward Jakub Vrana on waivers Tuesday, less than three weeks after he returned to the team following a stint in the NHL/NHLPA player assistance program.

Vrana is midway through a three-year, $15.75 million deal that carries a $5.25 million cap hit.

Cal Petersen has been loaned to the Los Angeles Kings' American Hockey League affiliate after he cleared waivers.
