Islanders Acquire Bo Horvat From Canucks

Bo Horvat leaving Vancouver was always thought to be a possibility. It became a reality on Monday, with the Canucks trading their captain to the New York Islanders.

Horvat heads to Long Island in exchange for forward Anthony Beauvillier, prospect forward Aatu Raty and a conditional first-round pick in this year's draft, the teams announced.

Hall Of Famer Bobby Hull Dies At Age 84

Hockey Hall of Famer Bobby Hull, a 12-time All-Star and two-time Hart Trophy winner, has died, the Chicago Blackhawks announced Monday. He was 84.

"We send our deepest sympathies to the Hull family," the team said in a statement. "The Hull family has requested privacy during this difficult time. They appreciate the sympathies that have been sent their way."

Auston Matthews To Miss At Least Three Weeks With Sprained Knee

Maple Leafs center Auston Matthews will miss at least three weeks with a sprained knee.

The team announced the reigning MVP's anticipated absence Friday, two days after Matthews was injured in Toronto's victory against the New York Rangers.

Matthews is expected to miss at least six games and could be out for a few more.

Andrei Kuzmenko Signs Two-Year Deal With Canucks

Forward Andrei Kuzmenko signed a two-year contract extension with the Canucks on Thursday.

The deal has an average annual value of $5.5 million.

The 26-year-old Kuzmenko has played in 47 games for the Canucks this season with 21 goals and 22 assists, four penalty minutes and a plus-4 defensive ranking.

Rangers, Ben Harpur Agree To Two-Year, $1.57M Deal

The Colorado Avalanche brought back a familiar face Wednesday when they reacquired veteran two-way forward Matt Nieto from the San Jose Sharks.

Nieto, along with prospect defenseman Ryan Merkley, are going to the defending Stanley Cup champions in exchange for defenseman Jacob MacDonald and prospect forward Martin Kaut.

Bruce Boudreau has been fired as coach of the Vancouver Canucks, who are again on track to miss the playoffs with another underachieving season.

The team announced the change Sunday, less than a week after president of hockey operations Jim Rutherford said "major surgery" was needed to fix the Canucks, who have made the playoffs only once in the past eight years. Rick Tocchet was hired as Boudreau's replacement for a Vancouver team that has lost 28 of 46 games this season.
