New Jersey Devils defenseman Kevin Bahl signed a two-year, $2.1 million contract on Monday.

Bahl, 23, was a restricted free agent after coming off his three-year, entry-level contract.

The Minnesota Wild signed goalie Filip Gustavsson to a three-year, $11.25 million contract on Monday, avoiding salary arbitration after his strong first season with the club.

Arizona Coyotes forward Jack McBain avoided arbitration by signing a two-year contract on Sunday.

Financial terms were not disclosed by the team, however Sportsnet reported the deal is worth nearly $3.2 million. McBain was scheduled to have an arbitration hearing later in the day.

The Arizona Coyotes signed 2022 first-round draft pick Logan Cooley on Thursday to a three-year, entry-level contract, after the center changed his mind about returning to Minnesota for another college season.

The 19-yeaer-old Cooley was the third overall pick last year.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are placing goaltender Matt Murray on long-term injured reserve ahead of the 2023-24 season, the team announced Wednesday.

The Maple Leafs said Murray is out indefinitely but did not disclose the nature of the injury. This follows a season in which Murray dealt with a head injury and hip and ankle problems.

The Carolina Hurricanes signed center Sebastian Aho to an eight-year, $78 million extension, general manager Don Waddell announced Wednesday.

The deal, which goes into effect next season, averages $9.75 million per year and runs through 2031-32, was announced on Aho's 26th birthday.

Rocky Wirtz, who won three Stanley Cup titles as owner of the Chicago Blackhawks and presided over the team during one of the NHL's biggest scandals, has died. He was 70.

The Blackhawks said in a release that Wirtz died Tuesday, calling it a "sudden passing." No further details were provided.

"Our hearts are very heavy today," Blackhawks CEO Danny Wirtz, Rocky's son, said on social media. "Our dad was a passionate businessman committed to making Chicago a great place to live, work and visit, but his true love was for his family and close friends. ... His passing leaves a huge hole in the hearts of many and we will miss him terribly."
