Bruins Name Don Sweeney New GM

Don Sweeney, who played 16 seasons in the NHL, was named the new general manager of the Bruins on Wednesday.

Sweeney, 48, replaces Peter Chiarelli, who was fired April 15. Sweeney, who has served the past six seasons as the assistant general manager, becomes the eighth GM in franchise history. The 2015-16 season will be his 10th in the Bruins' front office.

Oilers Name McLellan New Head Coach

Todd McLellan was hired as the new coach of Oilers on Tuesday, according to an ESPN.com report on Tuesday.

"We're not going to talk about playoffs here," said McLellan, sitting beside Oilers general manager Peter Chiarelli for the announcement.

Flyers Name Dave Hakstol Head Coach

Dave Hakstol was hired by the Flyers on Monday, becoming the 19th head coach in the franchise's history.

Hakstol, 46, has been the U. of North Dakota's head coach for the past 11 seasons. At North Dakota he had a 289-143-43 record and led the school to the NCAA tournament in each of his 11 seasons. 

"Dave brings a wealth of head coaching experience and success to the Philadelphia Flyers organization," GM Ron Hextall said in a statement.

Avs Sign Andreas Martinsen To Entry Deal

The Avalanche announced today that the team has signed forward Andreas Martinsen to a one-year, entry-level contract.
 
Martinsen, 24, has spent the last three seasons playing for Dusseldorfer in Germany’s top professional league (Deutsche Eishockey Liga). He finished third on the club in scoring this past season with 41 points while adding a team-high 99 penalty minutes in 50 games. The forward added five points in 12 playoff contests.
 
A native of Bærum, Norway, Martinsen recently played for his country at the 2015 IIHF World Championship in the Czech Republic.  This year marked his sixth consecutive appearance at the world championships (2010-15).

Ducks Sign Ondrej Kase To Entry Level Deal

The Ducks announced today that the club has signed left wing Ondrej Kase to a three-year entry-level contract beginning in the 2015-16 season.

Kase, 19,  helped Chomutov of the Czech-2 league to its respective league championship this spring, collecting 6-5=11 points with four penalty minutes  in 11 playoff games. Among postseason leaders, Kase ranked tied for eighth in scoring, tied for sixth in goals and tied for fourth in plus/minus (+7). He also appeared in 37 regular-season games with Chomutov in 2014-15, scoring 7-14=21 points with a +16 rating and eight PIM.
 
Selected by Anaheim in the seventh round (205th overall) of the 2014 NHL Draft, the Kadan, Czech Republic native has represented his country in numerous international tournaments.

Devils Name Ray Shero New GM

The Devils made a huge splash on Monday, announcing the hiring of Ray Shero as the team's new general manager.

Lou Lamoriello, who served as general manager for all three of the Devils' Stanley Cup Championships, will continue in his role as team president, with Shero reporting to him.

Lamoriello told reporters on a conference call Monday afternoon that he recommended Shero, the former GM of the Oenguins, for the job.
