Flyers Sign Sean Couturier To Six-Year Deal

The Flyers have signed center Sean Couturier to a multiyear contract extension, the team announced Tuesday.

The deal is for six years and carries an average annual value of $4.33M, sources told ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun.

Couturier had a career-high 15 goals to go with 22 assists while playing in all 82 games for the second consecutive season.

Leafs Sign Mitch Marner To Entry Deal

The Maple Leafs announced today that the club has signed forward Mitch Marner to a three-year entry-level contract.

Marner, 18, was selected by the Maple Leafs with the fourth overall pick in last month’s NHL Entry Draft after finishing second in OHL scoring with 126 points (44 goals, 82 assists) in 63 regular season games with the London Knights in 2014-15. The 2014-15 OHL All-Star also added 16 points (nine goals, seven assists) in seven playoff contests. In two seasons with the Knights, Marner registered 185 points (57 goals, 128 assists) and 77 penalty minutes in 127 regular season games.  

Internationally, the Thornhill, Ontario native helped Team Canada capture a gold medal at the 2014 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup, recording a team-leading seven points in five games.

Avs Sign Joey Hishon To One-Year Deal

The Avalanche announced today that the team has signed forward Joey Hishon to a one-year contract for the upcoming 2015-16 season.
 
Hishon, who was a restricted free agent, appeared in 13 games for the Avalanche this past season, tallying two points. After making his regular season NHL debut on March 4 vs. Pittsburgh, Hishon scored his first NHL goal, the game-winner, on April 7 vs. Nashville. He spent most of the year with the Lake Erie Monsters of the AHL, recording 36 points in 53 games. 
 
Colorado’s first-round pick (17th overall) in the 2010 Entry Draft, Hishon joined the Avalanche for the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs, tallying one point in three postseason contests.

Predators Sign Colin Wilson To Four-Year, $15.75M Contract

Predators President of Hockey Operations/GM David Poile announced today that the club has signed restricted free agent Colin Wilson to a four-year, $15.75 million contract. Wilson will be paid $3.75 million in 2015-16, then $4 million in 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19 for an average annual value of $3.9375 million.

Wilson, 25, set career highs in goals (20) and points (42), while tying a personal best in assists (22) in 2014-15.

Leafs Name Lou Lamoriello New GM

Brendan Shanahan, President and Alternate Governor of the Maple Leafs, announced today that Lou Lamoriello has been named the 16th General Manager in the Club’s history. Lamoriello joins the Leafs after previously spending the last 28 years in the Devils organization.

Lamoriello first joined the Devils as President and GM in 1987. Under his leadership, New Jersey went to the Stanley Cup Playoffs 21 times, won nine division titles, went to the Stanley Cup Final five times and won the Cup on three occasions (1995, 2000 and 2003). The Devils also made 13 consecutive post-season berths from 1997-2010 and finished with a winning record every season from 1992-93 through 2009-10.

Lamoriello also served as Interim Head Coach during three different seasons – most recently the 2014-15 season as he served as co-coach alongside Scott Stevens and Adam Oates for the final 46 games of the regular season. On May 4, 2015, Ray Shero was introduced as the Devils’ new GM while Lamoriello remained in his role as President of Hockey Operations. He finished as the longest serving GM of any one team in the history of the NHL at 28 years (1987-2015).

Leafs Sign Travis Dermott To Entry Deal

The TMaple Leafs announced Wednesday that the club has signed Travis Dermott to a three-year entry level contract.

Dermott, 18, was drafted by the Maple Leafs in the second round (34th overall) of the 2015 NHL Draft. The Newmarket, Ontario native collected 45 points (eight goals, 37 assists) in 61 regular season games with the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League last season. He also led all OHL defencemen in playoff points with 17 (five goals, 12 assists) in 20 games.

Dermott was one of 13 defencemen selected to participate in Canada’s National Junior Team Summer Development Camp which will be held in Calgary beginning July 29.

Ducks Sign Josh Manson To Two-Year Extension

The Ducks announced today that the club has signed defenseman Josh Manson to a two-year contract extension through the 2017-18 NHL season. 

Manson, 23, collected 0-3=3 points with a +1 rating and 31 penalty minutes (PIM) in 28 games for Anaheim last season. Manson made his NHL debut on Oct. 31 at Dallas and earned his first career NHL point (assist) on Nov. 16 vs. Florida. The defenseman began the season with Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL, Norfolk), scoring 3-9=12 points with 47 PIM in 36 games.
