GM Marc Bergevin Signs Long Term Deal With Canadiens

General manager Marc Bergevin has signed an extension through the 2021-22 season, the Canadiens announced Wednesday.

"This new agreement brings added stability for our organization and particularly for our hockey operations. It enables us to continue our efforts in giving our fans a winning team," Montreal president Geoff Molson said in a statement.

Dainius Zubrus Signs One-Year Deal With Sharks

The Sharks have signed forward Dainius Zubrus to a one-year, two-way contract.

Zubrus had been on a professional tryout with the Sharks before signing the deal Tuesday. He is expected to make his debut for the team Wednesday night against the Blackhawks.

Leafs Sign Andrew Nielsen, Dmytro Timashov To Entry Deals

The Maple Leafs announced today that the club has signed 2015 draft picks Andrew Nielsen and Dmytro Timashov to entry-level contracts.

Nielsen, 19, was drafted by the Maple Leafs in the third round (65th overall) of the 2015 NHL Draft. The Red Deer, Alberta native has collected 24 points in 23 regular season games with the Lethbridge Hurricanes of the WHL  this season. Nielsen is fourth in team scoring and tied for second among all WHL defencemen.

Timashov, 19, was drafted by the Maple Leafs in the fifth round (125th overall) of the 2015 NHL Draft. The Kirovograd, Ukraine native currently leads the Quebec Remparts with 41 points in 23 regular season games, placing him tied for sixth in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) scoring. He was named QMJHL rookie of the year last season and finished 12th overall in scoring while also picking up four points in five games in the 2015 Memorial Cup.

Red Wings Sign Justin Abdelkader To Seven-Year Deal

The Red Wings have signed forward Justin Abdelkader to a seven-year contract extension, the team announced Thursday.

The deal is worth an average of $4.25 million per year, according to a source, but is front-loaded to include $20 million in the first four years, during which there also is a full no-trade clause. There is a partial no-trade clause after the first four seasons.
