The Avalanche announced today that the team has signed forward Andreas Martinsen to a one-year, entry-level contract.

Martinsen, 24, has spent the last three seasons playing for Dusseldorfer in Germany’s top professional league (Deutsche Eishockey Liga). He finished third on the club in scoring this past season with 41 points while adding a team-high 99 penalty minutes in 50 games. The forward added five points in 12 playoff contests.

A native of Bærum, Norway, Martinsen recently played for his country at the 2015 IIHF World Championship in the Czech Republic.  This year marked his sixth consecutive appearance at the world championships (2010-15).
