Tampa Bay Signs Fritz To One-Year Deal
The Lightning have signed free agent left wing Mitch Fritz to a one-year contract today, Executive Vice President and GM Brian Lawton announced. He will be assigned to the Norfolk Admirals of the AHL.
Fritz made his NHL debut last season with the Islanders, playing in 20 games with 42 penalty minutes. He also appeared in 36 games with Bridgeport of the AHL, notching two assists.
A native of Osoyoos, British Columbia, Fritz has played in 270 career AHL games with Bridgeport, Hartford, Springfield, Worcester, Milwaukee, Saint John, Hamilton and Lowell.
Rangers Sign Alexi Semenov
New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that the club has agreed to terms with unrestricted free agent defenseman Alexei Semenov.
Semenov, 28, skated in 47 games with San Jose last season, registering one goal and eight points, along with 57 penalty minutes. He established career-highs in games played, assists (seven) and points.
Watkins Signs With Phoenix
Phoenix Coyotes GM Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have signed forward Matt Watkins to an entry level contract.
As per club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Watkins participated in training camp with the Coyotes on a professional tryout and has joined the team?s AHL affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage.
The 5-foot-10, 185-pound Watkins was originally drafted by Dallas in the fifth round of the 2005 Entry Draft.
Predators Sign Bouillon To One-Year Deal
Predators President of Hockey Operations/GM David Poile announced today that the club has signed defenseman Francis Bouillon to a one-year, $750,000 contract. Bouillon attended Predators Training Camp on a Professional Tryout Agreement, scoring a goal in one preseason game.
Bouillon posted a career-high five goals, nine points and 53 penalty minutes in 54 games with Montreal in 2008-09.
A native of New York, N.Y., Bouillon is also a veteran of 25 NHL Playoff contests, and has seen action in four of the last five postseasons.
Afinogenov, Popovic Sign With Thrashers
Forward Maxim Afinogenov and defenseman Mark Popovic, who played in the preseason with the Thrashers on pro tryouts, have signed with the team.
A source told ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun that Afinogenov's deal is for one-year, $800,000.
Lang Signs With Coyotes
Coyotes GM Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have signed center Robert Lang to a one-year contract. As per club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.
?We are very pleased to have signed Robert Lang,? said Maloney. ?He provides another veteran presence for our team and is a proven scorer in the National Hockey League.?
Lang, 38, registered 18-21-39 and 36 penalty minutes (PIM) in 50 games with the Canadiens last season. .
Coyotes Sign LW Hollweg To Contract
Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have signed left wing Ryan Hollweg to a one-year contract.
As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Hollweg, who participated in training camp with the Coyotes on a professional try-out, has re-joined the Coyotes from the team's American Hockey League affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage.
Mancari Signs One-Year Deal With Sabres
The Sabres signed restricted free agent forward Mark Mancari to a one-year contract Saturday, according to an Associated Press report.
Financial details of the deal were not released.
The Sabres assigned Mancari to the Portland Pirates of the AHL, pending waivers.
Lightning Sign Wright To 3-Year Deal
The Lightning have signed forward James Wright to a three-year entry-level contract today, Executive Vice President and GM Brian Lawton announced.
Wright, 6-foot-3, 175 pounds, has played in three games with the Lightning this preseason, recording two assists with a plus-2 rating. He is currently tied for seventh on the team in preseason scoring and tied for third in plus/minus.
A native of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Wright has played the previous four seasons with the Vancouver Giants of the Western Hockey League.
Attending his first Lightning training camp this season, Wright was drafted by Tampa Bay in the fourth round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
