The Blues have signed 26-year-old defenseman Brendan Bell, who played with the Senators last season, according to an Associated Press report. The deal was announced on Friday. Bell played in 53 games for the Senators, getting six goals and 15 assists along with 24 penalty minutes.

Capitals defenseman Milan Jurcina has re-signed with the team after being awarded a one-year, $1.375 million deal in arbitration. Jurcina had three goals, a career-high 11 assists and led Washington with 131 blocked shots, earning him a raise from his $912,000 salary in 2008-09.

Goaltender Tordjman Re-Signs With Phoenix

Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have re-signed goaltender Josh Tordjman to a one-year contract. As per club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed. Tordjman, 24, appeared in 51 games for San Antonio of the American Hockey League (AHL) last season, posting a record of 25-22-2 with a 2.61 goals against average (GAA), a .909 save percentage (SV%) and six shutouts. He also appeared in two games for the Coyotes, making his NHL debut on Mar. 8 against the New York Islanders. Tordjman set AHL career-highs in wins (25) and shutouts (6) while ranking 2nd in the AHL in shutouts and T-12th in wins last season. He was also named Reebok X-Pulse/AHL Goaltender of the Month for January after recording 9-4-0 with a 2.01 GAA, a .933 SV% and one shutout in 13 games. In 131 career AHL games, Tordjman has posted a record of 62-54-0 with a 2.62 GAA, a .913 SV% and eight shutouts. He is also 3-3 with a 1.85 GAA and a .941 SV% in the postseason. Prior to signing with the Coyotes as a free agent on July 2, 2006, Tordjman spent four seasons (2002-2006) in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) with Victoriaville and Moncton. A native of Montreal, Quebec, Tordjman led Moncton to the Memorial Cup Finals in 2006.

Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have re-signed left wing Scottie Upshall to a one-year contract. As per club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed. ?We are excited to have signed Scottie Upshall to a new contract,? said Maloney. ?He performed exceptionally well for us last season after we acquired him from Philadelphia and we expect him to be an important player for us next season.? Upshall, 25, set new career-highs in goals (15), assists (19), points (34) and games played (74) last season. He began the season with Philadelphia before being traded to the Coyotes on March 4, 2009 along with a 2nd round draft choice in the 2011 Entry Draft in exchange for Daniel Carcillo. In 19 games with Phoenix, Upshall registered 8-5-13 and 26 penalty minutes (PIM) to rank 3rd on the Coyotes in scoring during that span. Upshall also earned a silver medal while representing Canada at the 2009 World Championship in Switzerland. In 230 career NHL games with Nashville, Philadelphia and the Coyotes, Upshall has registered 46-60-106 and 223 PIM. The 6-foot, 197-pound Upshall also recorded 50-55-105 and 202 PIM in 123 career American Hockey League (AHL) games with Milwaukee and was a part of the 2004 Calder Cup Championship team. Prior to his professional career, Upshall spent three seasons with Kamloops of the Western Hockey League (WHL) where he registered 99-127-226 and 361 PIM in 172 games. In 2001, he was named the Canadian Major Junior Rookie of the Year. Upshall was originally drafted by Nashville in the first round (6th overall) of the 2002 Entry Draft.

Ducks Sign Pettri Nokelainen To Extension

The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has signed center Petteri Nokelainen to a one-year contract extension through the 2010-11 NHL season. Per club policy, no financial terms of the deal were disclosed. Nokelainen, 23 (1/16/86), split his third NHL season with Anaheim and Boston in 2008-09, combining for 4-5=9 points with a +2 rating and 16 penalty minutes (PIM) in 50 games. Overall, Nokelainen won 53.4% of his faceoffs (156-for-292) while averaging 11:15 time on ice (TOI) and 15.5 shifts per game. The 6-1, 195-pound center, who was acquired from Boston in exchange for defenseman Steve Montador on Mar. 4, 2009, made his Anaheim debut on Mar. 6 vs. Dallas and scored his first goal as a Duck on Mar. 11 vs. Vancouver. He also appeared in nine of Anaheim?s 13 Stanley Cup Playoff games, missing four contests with an abdominal strain. Acquired by Boston from the New York Islanders in exchange for center Ben Walter and a conditional 2009 draft pick on Sept. 11, 2007, Nokelainen set career highs in goals (7), points (10), appearances (57) and PIM (19) in 2007-08. The Imatra, Finland native also made his NHL postseason debut in 2007-08, earning 0-2=2 points in seven games with the Bruins. Originally selected by the New York Islanders in the first round (16th overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, Nokelainen has appeared in 122 career NHL games with the Islanders, Bruins and Ducks, collecting 12-9=21 points with 39 PIM.

The Rochester, Minn., native has played in 10 NHL games, all with the Rangers, recording two penalty minutes. Lampman was originally drafted by the Rangers in the fourth round, 113th overall in the 2001 entry draft.

The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has named Pete Peeters goaltending consultant. ?Pete Peeters has a proven track record as one of the top goaltending consultants in the league,? said Executive Vice President/General Manager Bob Murray. ?We are pleased to announce he?s joined the team.? Peeters, 51 (8/17/57), joins the Ducks after having served as the Edmonton Oilers? goaltending coach for the last eight seasons. During his tenure, he helped Dwayne Roloson backstop the Oilers to a Stanley Cup Final appearance in 2006. Prior to joining Edmonton, Peeters spent four seasons as the goaltending coach for the Winnipeg Jets and Phoenix Coyotes from 1993-97. The Edmonton, Alberta native captured the Vezina Trophy as the NHL?s best goaltender for the 1982-83 season. He won the trophy as part of a career year with Boston in which he placed second in Hart Trophy (League MVP) balloting behind Wayne Gretzky. He also recorded a league-leading 40 wins and a 2.36 goals-against average (GAA) that season. In his first full NHL season in 1979-80, Peeters earned a 29-5-5 record, helping the Philadelphia Flyers to a 35-game undefeated streak, which is the longest in NHL history. That same year, he helped the Flyers advance to the Stanley Cup Final, falling to the New York Islanders in six games. In his 13-year career (1978-91), Peeters appeared in 489 career games with Philadelphia, Boston and Washington, recording a 246-155-51 mark with a 3.08 GAA. He was also a four-time All-Star, appearing in the mid-season classic in 1980, 1981, 1983 and 1984. Peeters was selected by Philadelphia in the eighth round (135th overall) of the 1977 NHL Amateur Draft. He represented the Canada Cup-winning Canadian squad in 1984, going 3-1-0 with a 3.33 GAA in four games. Peeters and his wife Laurie have two sons and one daughter.

The Columbus Blue Jackets have re-signed goaltender Dan LaCosta to a one-year, two-way NHL-American Hockey League contract, General Manager Scott Howson announced today. As is club policy, terms were not disclosed. LaCosta, 23, was a 2-0-0 record with a 1.54 goals-against average, .950 save percentage and one shutout in three games with the Blue Jackets last season. He earned the first win of his NHL career stopping 28-of-30 shots in an overtime win over San Jose on February 7. In his second career NHL start, he stopped all 31 shots he faced against Colorado on February 10 to post the first shutout of his NHL career. In 45 games with the Crunch in 2008-09, he went 19-18-2 with a 2.79 goals-against average, .913 save percentage and two shutouts. Columbus? fourth pick, 93rd overall in the 2004 Entry Draft, he has gone 33-27-6 with a 2.66 GAA, .913 SV% and six shutouts in 79 career AHL games.
