Boston Bruins forward Milan Lucic was placed on long-term injured reserve Saturday.

Lucic has missed the Bruins' past two games due to a lower-body injury he sustained after taking a puck to the ankle during Boston's 4-2 victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Oct. 21.

The Ottawa Senators placed star defenseman Thomas Chabot on long-term injured reserve Saturday morning.

Chabot is expected to be sidelined four to six weeks with a fractured hand, coach D.J. Smith announced Friday. Chabot was injured while blocking a shot early in the second period of Ottawa's 3-2 loss to the New York Islanders on Thursday

 The Carolina Hurricanes have activated forward Andrei Svechnikov from injured reserve.

The team announced the move Friday, hours before facing the San Jose Sharks at home. Svechnikov suffered a serious knee injury last season, sidelining him for the last part of the regular season and the team's push to the Eastern Conference final in the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Florida Panthers center Sam Bennett, who has yet to play this season, has returned to practice and could be back in the lineup when Florida hosts the Seattle Kraken in Sunrise on Saturday night.

Bennett, who scored 44 goals over the past two seasons, sustained a lower-body injury against the Tampa Bay Lightning in an Oct. 5 preseason game.

"It feels great," Bennett said of his recovery. "When you've been out for a while, you really miss being out there."

Veteran defenseman David Savard is will miss six-to-eight weeks with a fracture to his left hand, the Montreal Canadiens said on Tuesday.

Savard left Monday's win in Buffalo midway through the third period after blocking multiple shots, one of which knocked off his skate blade, on the penalty kill.

Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid could return to the lineup for the NHL Heritage Classic outdoor game Sunday but is not expected to play Tuesday or Thursday this week.

McDavid was ruled out of Tuesday's game at Minnesota and is doubtful to return for Thursday's game with the New York Rangers. The three-time Hart Trophy recipient initially was thought to be out for one to two weeks with an upper-body injury sustained Saturday in a loss to Winnipeg, but the Oilers will keep the door open for his return this weekend.

Seattle Kraken forward Andre Burakovsky is expected to miss six to eight weeks after being injured in the game over the weekend against the New York Rangers.

The team announced Monday that Burakovsky underwent an unspecified procedure to repair an upper-body injury.

Edmonton Oilers star Connor McDavid is expected to miss one to two weeks after suffering an upper-body injury, the team announced Sunday.

McDavid, the reigning Hart Trophy winner, suffered the injury during a 3-2 overtime loss to the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday night. He took his final shift in the third period and was seen reaching for his left side during a rush. He stayed on the bench throughout the overtime session.

Oilers coach Jay Woodcroft said after the game that "it appeared to be muscular more than anything."

Edmonton Oilers star Connor McDavid was injured in a 3-2 overtime loss at home to the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday night.

McDavid's last shift of the game finished with 4:20 remaining in the third period. He could be seen reaching for his side during a rush up the ice. McDavid's final two shifts were 33 and 34 seconds, respectively, for a player who averages 56 seconds per shift.

McDavid remained on the bench in overtime, leaving Edmonton without last season's NHL MVP. Jets center Mark Scheifele scored at 3:53 of overtime to complete a Winnipeg rally, dropping the Oilers to 1-3-1 on the season.

The Washington Capitals placed goaltender Charlie Lindgren on injured reserve Thursday and recalled defenseman Hardy Haman Aktell from AHL affiliate Hershey.

Lindgren sustained an upper-body injury during the team's morning skate Monday and missed that night's shootout win over the visiting Calgary Flames and Wednesday's loss to the host Ottawa Senators.
