Islanders, Derrick Brassard Agree To One-Year Deal

Senators Sign Colin White To Six-Year, $28.5M Contract

The Ottawa Senators have signed center Colin White to a six-year, $28.5 million contract, the team announced.

The 22-year-old White stepped into the top center position and had a solid season with 14 goals and 27 assists. 

White will be counted on to play a significant role next season as the team continues its rebuild.

Wild Name Bill Guerin New GM

The Wild passed on PPenguins assistant GM Bill Guerin to hire Paul Fenton as their general manager last year. Fenton lasted one season. On Wednesday, the team corrected the error, and hired Guerin to succeed him.

"Bill has been a winner throughout his hockey career and I am extremely pleased to be able to add his experience to our organization and The State of Hockey," Wild owner Craig Leipold said in a statement.

Guerin, 48, becomes the fourth general manager in Wild franchise history and the second plucked from the Penguins organization after Chuck Fletcher.

Avs, Valeri Nichushkin Agree To One-Year Deal

The Colorado Avalanche agreed to a one-year deal with forward Valeri Nichushkin.

The 24-year-old had 10 assists and no goals in 57 games last season with the Dallas Stars. He has 23 goals and 51 assists in 223 career games, all with Dallas.

Sabres Unveil Golden Jersey To Celebrate 50th Anniversary

The Buffalo Sabres will celebrate their 50th anniversary with special golden jerseys this season.

They will wear them for 13 games to commemorate 2020, their 50th year in the NHL.

The white jerseys have the iconic Sabres crest in gold and navy blue. There are five stripes on each sleeve and at the bottom of the jersey to represent 50 years. The details also include logos from throughout Sabres history on the inner neckline.

William Nylander Ready To 'Dominate' This Season

William Nylander says he's ready to become one of the NHL's dominant players this season.

"I'm looking forward to this season to dominate," the Toronto Maple Leafs forward said. "I very much believe in myself and I know what I'm capable of, so I'm not really worried about proving anything. I'm ready to take that next step.

"This season I'm excited to show I'm a dominant player in the NHL. That's what I've worked towards every summer. This summer hasn't been different. Working towards becoming a better player every time."

Nylander also said the Maple Leafs, who have been eliminated from the Eastern Conference First Round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs in each of the past three seasons, are ready to take the next step.

"We're the only ones who can stop ourselves," he said. "I feel like we as a team are ready to take a step in the next direction."

Waddell is both the team's president and general manager.

The 60-year-old had been mentioned as a candidate for the Minnesota Wild's GM vacancy. He has been with the organization since 2014.

Panthers Will Retire Roberto Luongo's Number In March

The Florida Panthers have announced they'll honor Roberto Luongo by retiring his No. 1 on March 7.

The Panthers will play the Montreal Canadiens, Luongo's hometown team.

Luongo will become the first Panthers player to have his number retired.
