Capitals Trade Picks To Kings For Carl Hangelin

The Washington Capitals acquired forward Carl Hangelin from the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday for draft picks.

The Kings, who got Hagelin for Tanner Pearson in November, receive a 2019 third-round pick and a 2020 conditional sixth-round selection from Washington.

Hagelin, who has struggled with two goals and eight points this season, is in the final year of a four-year, $16 million contract.

Ducks, Jakob Silfverberg Agree To Five-Year Extension

The Washington Capitals waived Devante Smith-Pelly on Wednesday, coach Todd Reirden said.

The Caps had signed Smith-Pelly, 26, to a one-year, $1 million contract in the offseason, following the winger's spectacular play on the way to winning the Stanley Cup last season.

The Minnesota Wild traded forward Charlie Coyle to the Boston Bruins in exchange for forward Ryan Donato and a fifth-round pick, the Bruins announced Wednesday.

"Charlie brings unique qualities to our team. He is an experienced, productive, two-position player with size, skill and speed,'' Bruins general manager Don Sweeney said in a statement released by the team. "Charlie will provide the necessary depth in all areas of our game as we continue to battle for a playoff position. Charlie is a player our entire organization believes can help us now and moving forward.''

Ducks Retire Scott Niedermayer's No. 27 Jersey

The Anaheim Ducks have raised Scott Niedermayer's No. 27 jersey to the rafters at the Honda Center, honoring the Hall of Fame defenseman who helped lead the Ducks to their only Stanley Cup title in 2007.

The Ducks held the ceremony on Sunday night before their game against Washington.
