Patrice Bergeron '95 Percent' After Injuries

After suffering multiple injuries, Bruins center Patrice Bergeron said Sunday he is closing in on a complete recovery, according to an NHL.com report.

"I feel pretty good," Bergeron said at an press conference for Canada national men's team camp. "I'm pretty much 95 percent to where I'd like to be. [It] took a little time to get back to feeling good and normal, but workouts, and I've been on the ice this week and it's been feeling well, so I've felt pretty good.

"I'm confident that I'll be ready for [Boston training] camp and definitely ready for October (the season opener)."

Ducks defenseman Sheldon Souray will be out four to six months after undergoing surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right wrist, the club announced Tuesday.

The 37-year-old defenseman was hurt while working out off the ice on July 17.

Flyers captain Claude Giroux had surgery on his right index finger after getting injured on a golf course in Ottawa, according to an ESPN.com report.

Giroux sustained tendon damage when a golf club shattered and splintered into his finger Thursday.

Dalton Prout Undergoes Abdominal Surgery

Blue Jackets defenseman Dalton Prout underwent surgery today to repair a lingering abdominal injury and will miss the start of training camp next month, club GM Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.  

“Dalton has been experiencing some soreness for a number of weeks and after initial tests indicated a muscle strain, we discovered this week that there was actually a small tear and that surgery would be his best option,” said Kekalainen.  “They typical recovery time for an injury like this is six weeks, so our hope is he will be ready by the start of the regular season.”

Shawn Burr Dies From Fall At Age 47

Shawn Burr, who played 16 years in the NHL, mostly with the Red Wings, died Monday, according to an ESPN.com report. He was 47.

Dave Goetze, a friend of Burr's, says Burr was making progress in a fight against leukemia, but he died from brain trauma after a fall at his Detroit-area home.

Jonathan Huberdeau Back On The Ice

Calder Trophy winner Jonathan Huberdeau of the Panthers has a short-term goal: Be ready when training camp begins next month.

The 20-year-old center took the ice Monday for the first time since undergoing hip surgery on May 14.

"[You have to] take it slowly. It's a process and I think I am just following it," Huberdeau told the Panthers' website. "It's getting better, hopefully I can get back out on the ice soon and I will be ready for training camp."
