Columbus Blue Jackets rookie center Adam Fantilli is expected to miss eight weeks with a lacerated calf, the team announced Wednesday.

Fantilli was injured Sunday in a 4-2 loss to the Seattle Kraken.

Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Frederik Andersen is returning to limited on-ice conditioning work in his recovery from a blood-clotting issue that has sidelined him since November.

The Hurricanes announced the update on Andersen's status Wednesday.

The NHL is hopeful that New Jersey Devils star Jack Hughes can still participate in the NHL All-Star Game and skills competition this weekend in Toronto.

Hughes, 22, hasn't played since suffering an undisclosed upper-body injury in the Devils' Jan. 5 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks. Devils coach Lindy Ruff indicated that Hughes hadn't returned to skate with the team before the All-Star break.

New York Rangers center Filip Chytil will miss the remainder of the season, the team announced Sunday.

Chytil, who has not played since Nov. 2, had previously been ruled out with what the Rangers described as an upper-body injury, with sources telling ESPN late last week that it was related to head injuries he had previously suffered.

Minnesota Wild captain and defenseman Jared Spurgeon will miss the rest of the season, the team announced Thursday.

The Wild said that Spurgeon will have left hip surgery Feb. 6 and will then undergo back surgery four weeks later. The expectation is that Spurgeon, who had five points in 16 games this season, will have fully recovered from his surgeries ahead of training camp in September.

Detroit Red Wings forward Patrick Kane has a lower-body injury that is not related to his hip, coach Derek Lalonde said Tuesday.

Kane will miss the remainder of the Red Wings' road trip and the club's training staff will check on his progress when the club returns to Detroit.

Connor Bedard is back -- to skating, at least.

The Chicago Blackhawks rookie returned to the ice on Monday just 10 days after fracturing his jaw in a collision with New Jersey Devils defenseman Brendan Smith and seven days post-surgery.

Bedard -- the first overall pick in the 2023 NHL entry draft -- sported a full cage and no-contact sweater for the session with Chicago's other injured players Nick Foligno and Sam Savoie. The original timeline for Bedard's return to game action was set at six to eight weeks.
