Lecavalier Undergoes Successful Knee Surgery
The Tampa Bay Lightning announced today that center Vincent Lecavalier underwent a successful minor arthroscopic procedure on his left knee this morning at the Florida Medical Clinic in Tampa. The procedure was performed by Lightning Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Ira Guttentag.
The recovery time is still expected to be 3-4 weeks and Lecavalier should be fully prepared to participate in the Lightning?s training camp, which begins Friday, September 17.
Whitfield Out For Season After Tearing Achilles
The Bruins will likely be without center Trent Whitfield for the 2010-11 season after he tore his Achilles.
Whitfield suffered the injury while working out, according to Comcast SportsNet New England.
Whitfield spent the majority of last season with the AHL Providence Bruins, where he had 17 goals and 26 assists in 43 games.
Tim Thomas Ahead Of Schedule In Rehab
Bruins goalie Tim Thomas, who underwent surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left hip on May 21, said he's ahead of schedule as he continues his rehabilitation.
"It's going really well," Thomas said. "It's actually gone exceptionally well, right from the start, which has been a good thing. We're ramping it up and ramping up the workouts. I think everything would be considered right on track, if not a little bit ahead."
Pronger Recovering From Knee Surgery
Flyers defenseman Chris Pronger is recovering from right knee surgery and should be ready for training camp.
Pronger averaged nearly 26 minutes on the ice during the regular season, fifth-best in the in the league. He had a league-leading 29 minutes in the playoffs.
