NHL, Rogers Communications Agree To New Deal

The NHL says it has reached a 12-year, $5.2 billion agreement with Rogers Communications for the league's Canadian broadcast and multimedia rights, according to an ESPN.com report on Tuesday.

Ten Ex-Players Sue NHL Over Concussions

Ten former NHL players, including Gary Leeman, claimed in a class-action lawsuit that the league hasn't done enough to protect players from concussions.

The lawsuit seeks damages and court-approved, NHL-sponsored medical monitoring for the players' brain trauma and/or injuries, which they blame on their NHL careers.

The suit was filed in federal court in Washington on behalf of players who retired on or before February 14 of this year and have suffered such injuries.

Denver DA Charges Varlamov With Assault

Prosecutors filed a misdemeanor assault charge Friday against Avalanche goalie Semyon Varlamov after his girlfriend said he attacked her last month.

Varlamov, 25, faces one count of third-degree assault, according to an ESPN.com report.

Report: Semyon Varlamov Will Start For Avs

Avalanche goalie Semyon Varlamov will start Friday at the at American Airlines Center against the Stars, the Denver Post is reporting.

Varlamov appeared in a Denver court Thursday facing charges of second-degree kidnapping and third-degree assault stemming from his arrest Wednesday.

Varlamov is 7-1-0 with a 1.76 goals-against average and .945 save percentage this season.

Varlamov Accused Of Kicking Girlfriend

Avalanche goalie Semyon Varalamov will be able to travel with the team while prosecutors consider whether he should be charged with assaulting his girlfriend, according to an ESPN.com report.

On Thursday, a judge said Varlamov could be released if he posted $5,000 bond and be allowed to travel with the team but he was ordered to stay away from his girlfriend, among other restrictions.
