Avalanche goalie Semyon Varlamov has surrendered to Denver police on an arrest warrant on charges of kidnapping and third-degree assault in what authorities are calling a domestic violence incident.

Police released few details about the case Wednesday night during a news conference and declined to elaborate, other than to say it involved someone who Varlamov was in an intimate relationship with.

The NHL has lost a fight to reclaim money from former Coyotes owner Jerry Moyes but says the battle is far from over.

As reported in the Arizona Republic, a federal bankruptcy court threw out most of the league's claims against Moyes last Friday. 

Less than 24 hours into his first season as an head coach, Patrick Roy is already $10,000 lighter in the wallet after being fined by the NHL for an outburst at the end of the Avalanche's regular-season opener Wednesday night.

The league announced the fine Thursday afternoon, according to an ESPN.com report.
