Penguins forward Matt Cooke has been suspended for the remainder of the regular season and first round of the playoffs by the NHL for elbowing Ryan McDonagh of the Rangers in the head.
Pittsburgh has 10 games to play, including Monday night's game against Detroit, in the regular season so the suspension will be a minimum of 14 matches.
He will also lose $219,512.20 in salary.

Sharks' Heatley Suspended 2 Games
Sharks winger Dany Heatley was suspended two games for his elbow to the head of Stars forward Steve Ott, the NHL announced Wednesday.
Heatley was penalized on the play in the third period of the Sharks' 6-3 win over the Stars on Tuesday night.
NHL Suspends Pavel Kubina 3 Games
Lightning defenseman Pavel Kubina has been suspended for three games and will forfeit $60,096.76 for delivering an elbow to the head of Blackhawks forward Dave Bolland, the NHL announced today.
His fine is based on his average annual salary and is calculated
under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The money goes to
the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
Kubina will miss the Lightning's next three games - Mar. 11 against
Ottawa, Mar. 12 at Florida and Mar. 14 at Toronto. He is eligible to return
Mar. 17 at Montreal.
