John Klingberg has agreed to a one-year deal with the Anaheim Ducks, the team announced Friday.

Klingberg was one of the most sought-after free agent defensemen this offseason after putting up 47 points in 74 games.

"We are extremely excited to add John to our group," said Ducks general manager Pat Verbeek in a statement.

The Carolina Hurricanes have re-signed defenseman Ethan Bear to a one-year, $2.2 million contract.

The team announced the deal Thursday, exactly one year since the Hurricanes acquired Bear in a trade with Edmonton.

The New York Rangers have agreed to terms with forward Kaapo Kakko on a two-year contract worth $4.2 million.

The deal with the No. 2 pick in the 2019 draft carries an annual salary cap hit of $2.1 million. General manager Chris Drury announced the agreement Thursday.

The Seattle Kraken re-signed forward Ryan Donato to a one-year, $1.2 million deal on Wednesday after initially choosing not to offer him a contract as a restricted free agent.

The San Jose Sharks have hired former New York Rangers coach David Quinn as their new head coach.

The Sharks announced Tuesday that Quinn would replace the fired Bob Boughner as the Sharks overhaul their management and coaching team.

"His previous NHL head coaching experience is valuable to us and he implements a system that will fit with our philosophy of being a hard team to play against," general manager Mike Grier said in a statement. "We are extremely happy to have him a part of this organization."

The New Jersey Devils have signed defenseman Jonas Siegenthaler to a five-year, $17 million contract extension starting next season, general manager Tom Fitzgerald announced Tuesday.

The Swiss defenseman will make an annual average of $3.4 million, with the two biggest paychecks in the first two years of the extension.

Center Isac Lundestrom has agreed to a two-year, $3.6 million contract with the Anaheim Ducks.

Lundestrom and the Ducks avoided arbitration with the deal announced Monday. Anaheim general manager Pat Verbeek has re-signed all of the club's restricted free agents.

Matthew Tkachuk says he's ready for the Battle of Florida after waging the Battle of Alberta for the first six years of his NHL career.

"I hate Edmonton, but I hate Tampa more now," said Tkachuk, who was traded by the Calgary Flames to the Florida Panthers in a blockbuster deal on Friday night.

Tkachuk was introduced by the Panthers at a news conference on Monday, having signed an eight-year, $76 million contract extension.

And now they're changing places in an NHL blockbuster.

Tkachuk was traded to the Florida Panthers on Friday night, with Huberdeau part of the haul going to the Calgary Flames for the power forward. Florida also sent defenseman MacKenzie Weegar, prospect Cole Schwindt and a lottery-protected first-round selection in the 2025 NHL draft.

The Columbus Blue Jackets have re-signed winger Patrik Laine to a $34.8 million, four-year contract, completing the final major item on their offseason checklist.

The deal announced Friday carries an $8.7 million salary cap hit through 2026 and gives Columbus a scoring winger to go along with prized free agent addition Johnny Gaudreau.
