Ryan Callahan Signs Six-Year Contract With Lightning

The Lightning signed Ryan Callahan to a six-year contract through 2020, the team announced Wednesday morning.

The deal is for a total of $34.8M, an average of $5.8M per season, and also includes a full no-trade clause for the first four seasons and he can submit a partial list for the final two, sources told ESPN.com.

Marian Gaborik Signs Seven-Year Deal With Kings

Marian Gaborik signed a seven-year deal Wednesday to stay with the Kings. The deal carries an average annual value of $4.875M, a source told ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun.

The Stanley Cup champions reached a deal with Gaborik before he became an unrestricted free agent next week.

Canucks Name Desjardins Head Coach

Willie Desjardins was hired as head coach of the Canucks on Monday, succeeding the fired John Tortorella after a season in which Vancouver missed the playoffs for the first time since 2008.

This is his first NHL head coaching job. He was an assistant with the Stars from 2010-12 and most recently led the AHL's Texas Stars to a Calder Cup title. Desjardins is the 18th head coach in Canucks history.

Leafs Sign Brandon Kozun To One-Year Deal

David Nonis, Senior Vice President and GM of the Maple Leafs, announced Friday that the club has signed forward Brandon Kozun to a one-year contract.

Kozun, 24, was acquired by the Maple Leafs on January 22, 2014 from the Kings in exchange for Andrew Crezcenzi. In 75 games this season split between the AHL Manchester Monarchs and the Toronto Marlies, he registered 17 goals, 29 assists and 46 points along with 70 penalty minutes. He ranked third on the Marlies in regular season assists and fourth in points. 

Kozun was originally selected by Los Angeles in the sixth-round, 179th overall, in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

Hurricanes Name Bill Peters Head Coach

The Hurricanes have hired Red Wings assistant Bill Peters as their head new coach, according to an ESPN.com report.

The team announced Peters' hiring Thursday and said he would be introduced Friday during a news conference.

It's the first big hire for new GM Ron Francis, who took over in April.
