Avs Sign McLeod, Stuart To Extensions

The Avalanche announced today that the team has signed forward Cody McLeod to a three-year contract extension through the 2017-18 season and defenseman Brad Stuart to a two-year extension through the 2016-17 campaign.

“Cody has been an Avalanche his entire career,” said Avalanche Executive Vice President/GM Joe Sakic. “He brings grit, energy and passion to the rink every single day.  We are excited to have him under contract for another three years.”

“Brad is a steady, experienced defenseman who is a solid addition to our blue line,” added Sakic.

McLeod, 30, has spent his entire career with the Avalanche after signing as a free agent on July 6, 2006.  The Binscarth, Manitoba native has appeared in 467 career games, tallying 91 points and 978 penalty minutes.  

Stuart, 34, is entering his first season with Colorado after being acquired from San Jose on July 1, 2014.  He has appeared in 985 career games in the NHL, recording 322 points.

Jaden Schwartz Signs Deal With Blues

Restricted free-agent Jaden Schwartz signed a two-year contract with the Blues on Saturday.

The deal is worth $2.35M on average per season, a source told ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun.

"We are excited to have Jaden in the fold for the next two seasons," GM Doug Armstrong said in a statement.

Leafs Sign Cody Donaghey To Entry Level Contract

The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed defenceman Cody Donaghey to a three-year entry level contract.

Donaghey, 18, registered 38 points (9 goals, 29 assists) in 67 regular season games with the Quebec Remparts of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League last season. The 6-1, 185-pound defenceman also collected 8 points (1 goal, 7 assists) in five playoff games with the Remparts last season. A native of St. John’s, Newfoundland, Donaghey led all defensemen on his team in both points (38) and goals (9) during the 2013-14 season.

Justin Braun Signs Deal With Sharks

The Sharks have signed defenseman Justin Braun to a $19 million, five-year extension, according to an ESPN.com report.

The deal announced Wednesday will keep Braun under contract through the 2019-20 season. Braun has one year remaining on his current contract.

DeKeyser Re-Signs With Red Wings

The Red Wings have re-signed restricted free-agent blue-liner Danny DeKeyser to a two-year contact, the team announced Tuesday.

A source told ESPN.com the deal is worth $4.375 million; $2.125 million this upcoming season and $2.25 million next year.

Niederreiter Signs Three-Year Deal With Wild

The Wild announced the deal Thursday but did not disclose financial terms. A source confirmed to ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun that the deal is worth $8 million.

Ducks Extend Coach Bruce Boudreau

The Ducks announced today that the club has extended the contract of Head Coach Bruce Boudreau for two additional seasons. Boudreau, who had one year remaining on his contract, is now signed through the 2016-17 NHL season.
 
“Bruce has done a very good job over the last several years, and deserves the opportunity to take this team deep into the playoffs,” said Ducks Executive Vice President/GM Bob Murray. “We’re happy to have this contract complete before training camp, so our complete focus can be on winning hockey games.”
 
Boudreau has the top winning (points) percentage in the NHL among all active coaches (min. 100 games; 312-143-62, .663%). He led Anaheim to the best record in the Western Conference for the first time in club history last year (54-20-8), including a second straight division title and club-record 116 standings points. 
 
“I couldn’t be more excited and would like to thank the Samuelis, Michael Schulman and Bob Murray for extending my contract,” said Boudreau. “I’m determined not only to win, but to do it here, for this organization that has treated me so well. I can’t wait for training camp to get started.”

Maple Leafs Sign Spencer Abbott

David Nonis, Senior Vice President and GM of the Maple Leafs, announced Tuesday the club has signed forward Spencer Abbott to a one-year contract.

Abbott, 26, made his NHL debut last season on October 5 against the Senators.

The forward played 64 games for the Toronto Marlies in 2013-14, collecting 69 points (17 goals, 52 assists) and 16 penalty minutes. The Hamilton, Ontario native also registered 11 points (four goals, seven assists) in 11 playoff games with the Marlies. 

Prior to joining the Maple Leafs organization, Abbott spent four seasons at the U. of Maine collecting 146 points (54 goals, 92 assists) in 151 games. During the 2011-12 season, Abbott led the entire NCAA in scoring with 62 points (21 goals, 41 assists) in 39 games.

Tyson Barrie Signs New Deal With Avs

The Avalanche announced today that the team has signed defenseman Tyson Barrie to a two-year contract through the 2015-16 season.

"Tyson is a big part of the young nucleus of our team," said Avalanche Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations Joe Sakic. "He is a gifted young defenseman who brings a lot of offense.  We are pleased to have him under contract and look forward to his contribution this upcoming season.”

Barrie, 23, led all Colorado defensemen with 13 goals this past season, the most by an Avs blueliner since 2006-07 (John-Michael Liles - 14).  Barrie finished second among Avalanche defensemen in both points (38) and assists (25) while appearing in 64 games.
