Coach Paul Maurice has been given a four-year extension by the Jets, according to an ESPN.com report on Wednesday.
Maurice and GM Kevin Cheveldayoff appear to be agree on some of the team's needs.
One of them is keeping Ondrej Pavelec as the team's starting goaltender.
Trevor Linden has been named president of hockey operations for the Canucks, the team announced Wednesday.
The move comes a day after the Canucks fired president and GM Mike Gillis. Vancouver is 35-33-11 this season and will miss the playoffs.
Linden played 16 seasons for Vancouver, including seven as team captain, according to an ESPN.com report.
The Lightning have signed vice president and GM Steve Yzerman to a four-year contract extension, chairman and governor Jeff Vinik announced today. Yzerman, who has one more year remaining on his initial contract, is completing his fourth season as the organization’s lead hockey operations executive.
“Since the day Steve agreed to serve as our vice president and general manager, he has worked tirelessly to transform our hockey department and establish the groundwork for sustained success”, said Vinik in making the announcement. “We are very pleased with Steve’s job performance thus far, and I am fully confident Steve remains the right person to continue to lead us.
“Organizationally, we remain committed to playing at the highest levels each season - regularly competing for the Stanley Cup - and I am very pleased that Steve has elected to be our leader for the next several years.”
Yzerman was introduced as the Lightning’s vice president and GM on May 25, 2010, making him the sixth GM in franchise history. In his four seasons managing the Lightning’s hockey operations, Yzerman has completely transformed the team, establishing it as one of the league’s model franchises for drafting and developing players.
"I'm grateful for the opportunity to continue the process we started four years ago and would like to thank Jeff Vinik for entrusting me with the responsibility of leading the Tampa Bay Lightning,” Yzerman said. “I'm very excited about what lies ahead for our organization and truly enjoy working with a fantastic group of people in Tampa Bay."
The Ducks announced today that the club has signed left wing Nicolas Kerdiles to a three-year entry-level contract.
rnKerdiles, 20, ranked fifth in the nation in points-per-game (1.36) and tied for 11th in assists-per-game (0.82) this season. Kerdiles collected 38 points with 33 penalty minutes in 28 games with Wisconsin (Big Ten), ranking third among conference skaters in scoring and goals, and second in assists. A 2013-14 Second-Team All-Star, Kerdiles helped lead Wisconsin to the Big Ten title with three points in the championship game, including an assist on the game-winning goal in overtime vs. Ohio State on Mar. 22.

David Nonis, Senior Vice President and GM of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Wednesday the club has signed forward Carter Verhaeghe to a three-year entry level contract. Verhaeghe will join the AHL’s Toronto Marlies on an amateur tryout agreement for the remainder of the 2013-14 season.
Verhaeghe, 18, led the OHL’s Niagara IceDogs in assists (54) and points (82) in 65 games in 2013-14 while serving as an assistant captain.
Over the past three seasons (2011-12 to 2013-14), the native of Waterdown, Ontario, has accumulated 50 goals, 92 assists, 142 points and 92 penalty minutes in 194 OHL games for Niagara. Verhaeghe was selected by the Maple Leafs in the third round, 82nd overall, in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
