Wild Sign Clutterbuck To Three-Year Extension

The Wild have signed winger Cal Clutterbuck to a three-year extension, according to an Associated Press report on Thursday. The 22-year-old Clutterbuck would have become a restricted free agent at the end of the season.

Nashville Signs Rinne To Two-Year $6.8M Deal

Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has signed goaltender Pekka Rinne to a two-year, $6.8 million contract. The deal will pay him $2.8 million in 2010-11 and $4 million in 2011-12. Rinne, 27 (11/3/82), has posted a 20-12-4 record in his second full NHL season, which included a franchise record seven-game winning streak from Nov. 12-25, 2009. As a rookie in 2008-09, the Kempele, Finland native ranked among the League leaders in shutouts (tied for fourth with a franchise-record 7), goals-against average (sixth, 2.38) and save percentage (tied for ninth, .917), in addition to finishing fourth in voting for the Calder Trophy. His 29 wins a season ago were also tied for the ninth-most by a first-year netminder in NHL history.

Chelios Signs Another Deal In AHL

The Chicago Wolves signed defenseman Chris Chelios to a third 25-game contract on Friday. Chelios and the Wolves will have to make a decision on his status by March 5. The veteran could stick with his 25-game deal, but if he is to be added to the playoff roster he would then have to sign a standard player contract for the postseason.

Flyers Sign Betts To 2-Year Extension

The Flyers have signed center Blair Betts to a two-year contract extension, according to an Associated Press report. Betts and the Flyers agreed to the extension on Friday. Betts has six goals and 10 points in 39 games in his first season with the Flyers. He has missed 19 games due to injury.

Mark Parrish Signs With Tampa Bay

The Lightning have signed forward Mark Parrish to a one-year, two-way contract, Lightning Executive Vice President and GM Brian Lawton announced on Tuesday. Parrish has been assigned to the Norfolk Admirals of the AHL. In 42 games with the Admirals this season, Parrish has 12 goals and 25 points, tying him for second on the club in points and third in goals. He leads Norfolk in goals, points and plus/minus during the team?s previous 26 games with nine goals, 20 points and a plus- 7 rating. A veteran of ten NHL seasons, Parrish has appeared in 704 career NHL games with the Panthers, Islanders, Kings, Wild and Stars, recording 216 goals and 169 assists in those games. Parrish appeared in 44 NHL games last season with the Stars, recording eight goals and five assists. Parrish has appeared in 48 career AHL games with the Admirals, Bridgeport Sound Tigers and the Beast of New Haven, scoring 15 goals and 29 points.

Predators Sign Tootoo To 2-Year, $2.5M Deal

Predators President of Hockey Operations/GM David Poile announced today that the club has signed forward Jordin Tootoo to a two-year, $2.5M contract. The deal will pay him $1.15M in 2010-11 and $1.35M in 2011-12. ?We look forward to watching Jordin?s continued development over the next two seasons,? Poile said. ?Since we drafted Jordin in 2001, we have not only seen him develop into a more complete player on the ice, but also an impactful member of the community on a year-round basis.? Tootoo has appeared in 330 career games, all with Nashville, registering 71 points and 550 penalty minutes ? a franchise record. In 2009-10, the Rankin Inlet, Nunavut native has 10 points in 26 games, the highest point-per-game average (.38) of his six-season NHL career. Nashville?s sixth choice, 98th overall, in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft made his NHL debut on Oct. 9, 2003 vs. Anaheim, becoming the first player of Inuit decent to play in the NHL.
