Jackets Sign D Cody Goloubef To Three-Year Deal

The Blue Jackets have signed defenseman Cody Goloubef to a standard three-year entry level contract, GM Scott Howson announced today. As is club policy, terms were not disclosed. Goloubef, 20, registered three goals and 11 assists for 14 points, 64 penalty minutes and was +13 in 42 games during his junior season at the University of Wisconsin in 2009-10. He ranked third among club defensemen in points and plus/minus rating and helped the Badgers reach the National Championship game. ?Cody comes from a very successful program at Wisconsin and we believe it is the right time for him to begin his professional career? Howson said.

Leafs Sign Scrivens To One-Year Deal

Sources tell TSN the Leafs have signed college free agent Ben Scrivens to a one year, entry-level contract. Scrivens, a native of Spruce Grove, Alberta, starred with Cornell and was a top 10 Hobey Baker finalist for college player of the year. He just finished his fourth season with the Big Red, compiling a 21-9-4 record and an impressive .934 save percentage. Scrivens is expected to challenge for a spot with the Toronto Marlies next season.

Maple Leafs Agree To Terms With G Jussi Rynnas

Brian Burke, president and general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Friday that the hockey club has agreed to terms with free agent goaltender Jussi Rynnas (pronounced YEW-see RIH-nuhs) on a two year NHL Entry Level contract. ?The Leafs feel that the addition of Jussi Rynnas bolsters the organization?s depth at the goaltending position,? said Burke. ?We are pleased that Jussi decided to sign with us, and we know that his level of play will be enhanced by working closely with our goaltending instructor Francois Allaire.? Rynnas, 22, had the top save percentage (.929) during the 2009-10 season while playing for Assat in Finland (SM-Liiga). In 31 games this past season, he posted a goals against average of 2.50. The native of Pori, Finland is six foot five and weighs 205 pounds.

Predators President of Hockey Operations/GM David Poile announced today that the club has signed Sodertalje forward Linus Klasen to a one-year, two-way deal that will pay him $675,000 at the NHL level and $67,500 at the AHL level. Klasen tied for fifth in the Swedish Elite League in points (51) and ranked ninth in goals (19) in 51 games during his third season playing at Sweden?s highest level.

Leafs Sign Gustavsson To Two-Year Deal

Brian Burke, president and general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Thursday that the hockey club has signed restricted free agent goaltender Jonas Gustavsson to a new two-year contract. ?We are extremely pleased to have signed Jonas to a new two year deal,? said Burke. ?He made very good progress as the season went along and we are really looking forward to seeing him reach his full potential with us.? Gustavsson, a 25-year-old native of Danderyd, Sweden, made his his NHL debut in 2009-10 by appearing in a team-high 42 games in net. He posted his first NHL shutout on December 19 versus Boston and he combined on another at Montreal on December 1. Gustavsson tied a club record for most consecutive wins (seven) by a rookie goaltender from March 6 to 27.

The Blue Jackets have signed defenseman Theo Ruth to a standard three-year entry level contract, GM Scott Howson announced today. As is club policy, terms were not disclosed. Ruth, 21, was Washington?s second pick, 46th overall, in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. He was acquired by Columbus from Washington in exchange for Sergei Fedorov on February 26, 2008. Ruth tallied five assists and 52 penalty minutes in 22 games during his junior season at the University of Notre Dame (Central Collegiate Hockey Association) in 2009-10 and also registered 31 blocked shots to rank fifth on the Fighting Irish in that category. ?He has had a very good career with the U.S. National Development Program and at Notre Dame, and we are pleased that he has decided to begin his professional career,? Howson said.
