Brooks 'Miracle On Ice' Memorabilla To Be Auctioned

The Miracle on Ice was a triumph years in the making under the careful guidance of coach Herb Brooks.

Some of the documents that were part of that process are now for sale, along with other belongings of the late hockey great, according to an ESPN.com report..

His family will put the money toward college for the Hall of Fame coach's grandchildren and the Herb Brooks Foundation, created after his death in 2003 to increase youth opportunity in hockey.

Former NHL Player Steve Montador Dies At Age 35

Former NHL player Steve Montador died early Sunday morning at age 35, according to an ESPN.com report.

Peel Region Police, who received an emergency call at approximately 2 a.m., say Montador was found unconscious in his home in Mississauga, Ontario, and was later pronounced dead.

No foul play or suicide was suspected, according to police. The cause of death was not immediately known.

NHL Launches Las Vegas Ticket Drive

Las Vegas hockey fans finally got the opportunity on Tuesday to put their money where their hockey team might be with the launch of a trial season ticket drive that supporters hope will lead to the expansion of the NHL into the city.

But NHL commissioner Gary Bettman, who attended a news conference at the MGM Grand Casino to kick off the drive, insisted that the NHL hasn't made any commitment to anyone regarding becoming the first major professional sports league to venture into the gambling and tourist mecca.

"We're not in the expansion process and I need to keep making that clear,'' Bettman said.

New Concussion Suit Filed Against NHL

A new concussion lawsuit has been filed against the National Hockey League.

A suit with 29 plaintiffs, including former NHL players Butch Goring and Manny Legace, was filed in Minnesota District Court on Monday.

The news was first reported by The Hockey News.
