Canadiens, Alex Galchenyuk Agree To Two-Year Deal

The Canadiens and restricted free-agent Alex Galchenyuk have agreed to terms on a two-year contract worth what a source told ESPN's Pierre LeBrun is an average of $2.8M per year.

Galchenyuk had career highs with 20 goals, 26 assists and 46 points last season.

The Flyers and right wing Jakub Voracek have agreed to a multiyear contract extension, according to an ESPN.com report on Thursday.

The 25-year-old Voracek had 22 goals and career highs of 59 assists and 81 points last season.

Bettman To Testify In NHL Concussion Lawsuit

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman will face a legal deposition Friday morning in New York City as part of an ongoing concussion lawsuit against the NHL, a source told ESPN.com.

Bettman is expected to be deposed at 10 a.m. and face questions about the ongoing litigation filed on behalf of several NHL players alleging the league was reckless and negligent about informing players on the risks of long-term damage as a result of head injuries suffered while playing the game.

Hawks To Build New Practice Facility, Ice Center

The Blackhawks announced Wednesday they will build a practice facility and community ice center on the land currently occupied by Malcolm X College in Chicago, according to an ESPN.com report.

The facility, which will be across from the United Center, will be 125,000 square feet and will include two ice rinks. Construction is expected to begin next year and to be finished within two years.

Devils Place Dainius Zubrus On Waivers

The Devils announced Wednesday that they have placed forward Dainius Zubrus on unconditional waivers for the purpose of terminating his contract.

Once Zubrus clears, at noon ET on Thursday, the Devils are expected to buy out the remaining one year on his contract. Zubrus is due $3.1 million this season.

Flyers Sign Sean Couturier To Six-Year Deal

The Flyers have signed center Sean Couturier to a multiyear contract extension, the team announced Tuesday.

The deal is for six years and carries an average annual value of $4.33M, sources told ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun.

Couturier had a career-high 15 goals to go with 22 assists while playing in all 82 games for the second consecutive season.

Canucks Trade Bonino, Clendening To Pens For Sutter

The Canucks acquired forward Brandon Sutter and a third-round draft pick in a trade with the Penguins, the team announced Tuesday.

In exchange for the 26-year-old Sutter, the Canucks send back Nick Bodino, Adam Clendening and a second-round pick in the 2016 NHL draft.

Leafs Sign Mitch Marner To Entry Deal

The Maple Leafs announced today that the club has signed forward Mitch Marner to a three-year entry-level contract.

Marner, 18, was selected by the Maple Leafs with the fourth overall pick in last month’s NHL Entry Draft after finishing second in OHL scoring with 126 points (44 goals, 82 assists) in 63 regular season games with the London Knights in 2014-15. The 2014-15 OHL All-Star also added 16 points (nine goals, seven assists) in seven playoff contests. In two seasons with the Knights, Marner registered 185 points (57 goals, 128 assists) and 77 penalty minutes in 127 regular season games.  

Internationally, the Thornhill, Ontario native helped Team Canada capture a gold medal at the 2014 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup, recording a team-leading seven points in five games.

Avs Sign Joey Hishon To One-Year Deal

The Avalanche announced today that the team has signed forward Joey Hishon to a one-year contract for the upcoming 2015-16 season.
 
Hishon, who was a restricted free agent, appeared in 13 games for the Avalanche this past season, tallying two points. After making his regular season NHL debut on March 4 vs. Pittsburgh, Hishon scored his first NHL goal, the game-winner, on April 7 vs. Nashville. He spent most of the year with the Lake Erie Monsters of the AHL, recording 36 points in 53 games. 
 
Colorado’s first-round pick (17th overall) in the 2010 Entry Draft, Hishon joined the Avalanche for the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs, tallying one point in three postseason contests.
