Joakim Nordstrom and the Hurricanes have agreed to terms on a two-year contract extension.

The team also said Friday that it reached a deal with defenseman Jake Chelios on a one-year, two-way contract.

Nordstrom had 10 goals and 14 assists in 71 games this season for the Hurricanes, who acquired him in September in a trade with Chicago.

The Maple Leafs announced Wednesday that the team has signed defenceman Morgan Rielly and forward Nazem Kadri to new six-year contracts.

Rielly, 22, led all Maple Leafs defencemen with a career-high 36 points (nine goals, 27 assists) while skating in all 82 games this year. The native of Vancouver, British Columbia also led the team with 23:13 of average ice time per game. lier this week.

The Ottawa Senators have named Pierre Dorion as their new GM, the team announced Sunday.

Dorion, who was promoted from assistant GM, will replace Bryan Murray, who announced that he will "step aside and have a different role with the organization."

Dorion announced that Murray will remain with the organization in "an advisory role."

The Flyers signed goaltender Ray Emery on Friday to a contract for the remainder of the season.

The 33-year-old Emery joined the Flyers on a professional tryout agreement earlier in the week. Because he signed after the trade deadline, he is not eligible to play in the playoffs.
