Pens Sign Matt Murray To Three-Year Extension

Matt Murray's breakout performance in last year's Stanley Cup playoffs earned the Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender a hefty raise.

Murray, 22, and the team agreed to a three-year extension that will pay Murray $3.75 million per season, beginning next season.

Ducks Sign Rickard Rakell To Six-Year Extension

The Ducks have announced that the club has signed forward Rickard Rakell to a six-year contract extension through the 2021-22 NHL season. Per club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Rakell, 23, has collected 29-49=78 points in 165 career NHL games with the Ducks. The center led the team in game-winning goals (7) and overtime goals (2) while setting career highs in goals (20), assists (23), points (20-23=43) and games played (71) last season. Rakell also ranked tied for third amongst Ducks players in goals (20) and fourth amongst Ducks players in scoring (43).

The Buffalo Sabres have re-signed defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen to a six-year contract, taking another key restricted free agent off the market.

The 21-year-old gets an annual average salary of $5.4 million.

Lightning Re-Sign Nikita Kucherov To Three-Year Contract

The Lightning have re-signed forward Nikita Kucherov to a three-year contract worth an average of $4.766 million per season, vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman announced today.

Kucherov, 23, skated in 77 games with the Lightning during the 2015-16 season, recording 30 goals and 66 points to go along with 30 penalty minutes. He led the team for points and was second for both assists (36) and goals.

Kucherov also set career highs for goals, points, power-play goals (nine) and game-winning goals (four). He ranked second on the Bolts for shots (209) and power-play goals, while also pacing the club with 19 multi-point games.

Flames Re-Sign Johnny Gaudreau To Six-Year Deal

The Flames will enter the 2016-17 NHL season with some peace of mind, having locked up forward Johnny Gaudreau with a new six-year contract.

Gaudreau, 23, will get $40.5 million and average an annual salary-cap hit of $6.75 million, a source told ESPN.

Las Vegas NHL Team Names Kerry Bubolz Team President

The Las Vegas NHL team has hired former Cleveland Cavaliers executive Kerry Bubolz as team president.

The team announced Bubolz's hiring in a news release Monday.

Bubolz spent 13 seasons with the Cavaliers and the Quicken Loans Arena organization, serving as president of business operations. He also served as president and alternate governor for all teams owned by the Cavaliers Operating Company, including the Cleveland Monsters of the American Hockey League, the Canton Charge of the NBA Development League, and the Cleveland Gladiators of the Arena Football League.

Predators Extend Peter Laviolette's Contract

The Nashville Predators have extended coach Peter Laviolette's contract through the 2020-21 season.

General manager David Poile announced the extension Saturday.

Laviolette is going into his third season with Nashville. He is 23 victories away from 500, which only 23 coaches have reached in the NHL. Laviolette also needs 77 games to reach 1,000 games coached.
