Evander Kane of the Jets has signed on with Dinamo Minsk of the KHL for the duration of the NHL lockout, his agent Craig Oster of Newport Sports confirmed to ESPN.com.

Kane had career highs with 30 goals and 27 assists in 74 games with the Jets last season.

Swiss hockey club Bern says it has signed Islanders center John Tavares during the NHL lockout, according to an ESPN.com report on Friday. 

Bern says the 22-year-old Canadian will arrive in Switzerland Tuesday and start training the next day.

Norris Trophy winner Erik Karlsson has signed with Jokerit of the Finnish Elite League, his agent Don Meehan confirmed to ESPN.com.

Karlsson will play for the duration of the NHL lockout.

Senators center Jason Spezza has signed with Rapperswil-Jona of the Swiss Elite League, his agent Rick Curran confirmed to ESPN.com on Wednesday.

The 29-year-old Spezza finished the 2011-12 season with 84 points, tying his career high with 34 goals.

Anze Kopitar has signed a deal to play with Mora IK of the Swedish league's second division during the NHL lockout, a source confirmed to ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun on Tuesday afternoon.

Islanders captain Mark Streit and Canadiens defenseman Yannick Weber are returning home to play in Switzerland during the NHL lockout, according to an ESPN.com report on Tuesday.

Bern says it has signed Streit and Geneva-Servette says it recruited Weber.

On the heels of the NHL lockout, Ilya Kovalchuk is headed to his native Russia to play during the work stoppage.

Kovalchuk will join SKA St. Petersburg of Russia's KHL, his agent confirmed to ESPNNewYork.com. 

Evgeni Malkin and Sergei Gonchar have signed with Mettalurg of the KHL after the NHL imposed a lockout of its players.

Metallurg, based in the Russian industrial city of Magnitogorsk, said in a statement Sunday that it signed the two Russian players through the end of the 2012-13 season.

The Coyotes have re-signed captain Shane Doan to a four-year contract.

Doan, who was selected by the franchise with the seventh overall selection in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft, has spent his entire career with the Coyotes/Jets organization and has played the most games in team history (1,198). 

The Stars signed goaltender Kari Lehtonen to a five-year contract extension worth $29.5M through the 2017-18 season, according to an ESPN.com report.

Lehtonen, 28, was acquired by the Stars a few weeks before the trade deadline in February 2010 as the club's eventual replacement for Marty Turco.
