The Hurricanes have signed defenseman Tim Gleason to a four-year contract extension worth $16M.
The team said Monday that the deal keeps Gleason under contract through the 2015-16 season. He could have become an unrestricted free agent this summer.

Ducks Sign Beauchemin To Extension
The Ducks announced today that the club has signed defenseman Francois Beauchemin to a three-year contract extension through the 2014-15 season.
"Francois is a dedicated, versatile and hard-working defenseman who is committed to our organization," said Ducks Executive Vice President/GM Bob Murray. "We are extremely pleased to have him under contract for the next three years."
Beauchemin was a key member of the Ducks' 2007 Stanley Cup championship club. The defenseman has appeared in 306 career regular season games with Anaheim, collecting 30-81=111 points with 214 penalty minutes. Among all-time defensive leaders, Beauchemin ranks fifth in scoring, goals and assists, and tied for fourth in game-winning goals (8) and overtime goals (2).
Blues Sign Elliott To Extension
The Blues have signed goalie Brian Elliott to a two-year, $3.6M contract extension, according to an ESPN.com report.
The deal announced Wednesday will pay Elliott $1.7M next season and $1.9M in 2013-14 for a $1.8M annual cap hit.
Lightning Re-Sign Pyatt For Two-Years
The Lightning have re-signed forward Tom Pyatt for two years, Vice President and GM Steve Yzerman announced. He is now signed through the 2013-14 season.
Pyatt has played in 35 games for the Lightning this season, recording three goals and five points while averaging 13:11 in ice time per game. He currently ranks third among all Tampa Bay forwards in average shorthanded ice time per game with 2:18 and tied for fourth in blocked shots with 20. His three goals this season are a career high. Pyatt has played in 136 career NHL games with the Lightning and Canadiens. He has recorded seven goals and 17 points in his career with 23 penalty minutes.
