The Anaheim Ducks announced Friday that they have signed left wing Brandon McMillan to a three-year entry-level contract. Per club policy, no terms of the deal were disclosed. McMillan, 20, appeared in 55 contests in his fourth season with the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League (WHL) in 2009-10, scoring 67 points with 63 penalty minutes (PIM) and a +11 rating.

Lightning Sign D Mark Barberio

The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed defenseman Mark Barberio to a standard three-year entry level contract today, Vice President and General Manager Steve Yzerman announced. "We always like adding good character people and quality players to the organization," Head Amateur Scout Darryl Plandowski said. "Mark has a good skill level and he's a winner, having played on championship teams. We look forward to adding him to the organization and working to develop Mark as a professional." Barberio is coming off an impressive junior career with the Moncton Wildcats and Cape Breton Screaming Eagles of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey league. During that time he amassed 46 goals and 168 points with a plus-53 rating in 261 career games.

Prospects Chouinard, Holos Sign With Avalanche

The Avalanche Hockey announced on Wednesday that the team has signed defense prospects Joel Chouinard and Jonas Holos each to an entry-level contract. ?We?re excited to have two more young defensemen under contract,? said Avalanche GM/Executive Vice President Greg Sherman. ?Joel had a productive year in junior and Jonas has competed at the highest levels of international hockey. We look forward to seeing them at training camp.? Chouinard, 20, led all Quebec Major Junior Hockey League defensemen with 23 goals and finished second in scoring with 68 points in 65 games for the Victoriaville Tigres this past season. He was named to the QMJHL First All-Star Team and was a finalist for the Emile Bouchard Trophy as the QMJHL?s best defenseman. Holos, 22, has spent the last two seasons with Farjestads BK of the Swedish Elite League after being selected by Colorado just three picks after Chouinard in the sixth round (170th overall) of that same 2008 Entry Draft. Holos, the Avalanche?s first-ever draft choice from Norway, represented his country at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver. He averaged 28:56 of ice time in four Olympic contests, leading the entire tournament in that category. Holos finished with one assist and four shots on goal in what was his first appearance at the Olympic Games.

Mike Brodeur Signs One-Year Deal With Ottawa

Backup goaltender Mike Brodeur has signed a one-year contract with the Senators, after spending most of last season with their AHL affiliate in Binghamton, according to an Associated Press report. The 27-year-old Brodeur was recalled to Ottawa twice last season, going 3-0-0 with a 1.00 goals-against average and a .966 save percentage. He went 13-13-2 with a 3.06 goals-against average and .899 save percentage in 36 games for Binghamton.

Avs Sign Adam Foote To One-Year Deal

The Avalanche announced today that the team has signed captain Adam Foote to a one-year contract for the upcoming 2010-11 season. ?Adam?s veteran leadership has been and will continue to be a big part of our success,? said Avalanche GM/Executive Vice President Greg Sherman. ?He provided stability last season and set an example for our young players right from the start of training camp. We are pleased to have our captain back for another year.? ?This organization is definitely heading in the right direction and I am excited to be a part of it,? said Foote. ?Having a young group like we did last year come together and compete at a high level was very special. We?re looking to carry that momentum into next season.? Foote, who turns 39 on July 10, will be embarking on his 19th season in the NHL, his 17th with the Avalanche/Nordiques franchise. Foote, who was named team captain on Sept. 11, 2009, is only the second captain in Avalanche history and just the ninth in the 30-year history of the franchise. He tallied nine points (0g/9a) and was +8 in 67 games this past season. Foote added one assist in six playoff contests.

Coyotes Sign First Round Pick Ekman-Larsson

Coyotes GM Don Maloney announced on Monday that the club has signed defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson to an entry level contract. As per club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed. Ekman-Larsson, 18, was drafted by the Coyotes with the sixth overall pick in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. In 42 games this season with Leksand of Sweden?s second-highest professional league, Ekman-Larsson recorded 9-18-27 and 98 penalty minutes. A native of Karlskrona, Sweden, Ekman-Larsson helped lead Sweden to the bronze medal at the 2010 World Championship in Germany, recording 1-2-3 in nine games. Last season, Ekman-Larsson appeared in 39 games with Leksand as a 17-year-old, where he recorded 3-14-17 and 32 PIM. The youngest player on his team, Ekman-Larsson also led the league with a +44 rating.

The Ducks announced today that the club has named Mark Holick head coach of the Syracuse Crunch, Anaheim?s primary development affiliate in the AHL. Holick was named the WHL Coach of the Year in 2009-10. ?With 16 years of coaching experience, Mark Holick has the proven track record we were looking for,? said Ducks Executive Vice President/GM Bob Murray. ?He had three great seasons in the WHL, including earning Coach of the Year honors in 2009-10, and is certainly qualified to take the next step.? Holick, 41, spent three seasons as head coach for the Kootenay Ice of the WHL from 2007-10, compiling a 120-75-21 record for 261 points and three consecutive trips to the WHL playoffs. Last season Holick guided the Ice to a 43-25-5 record (91 points) for a second-place finish in the Central Division and fourth in the Eastern Conference. Holick also served as an assistant coach for Team Canada at the 2009 IIHF World U18 Championship in Fargo, North Dakota.
