Zach Parise Undergoes Back Surgery

Wild forward Zach Parise underwent back surgery Tuesday and will be out eight to 10 weeks, general manager Chuck Fletcher announced.

The 33-year-old has practiced some but hasn't played in a game this season because of back issues. Parise had a microdiscectomy procedure, which is a minimally invasive surgery to relieve pressure on a lumbar herniated disk.

Adam McQuaid Out 6-8 Weeks With Broken Figula

Boston Bruins defenseman Adam McQuaid broke his right fibula against the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday and is expected to miss eight weeks.

McQuaid, 31, was injured blocking a shot by Canucks defenseman Ben Hutton in the third period of the Bruins' 6-3 victory at TD Garden. He is scheduled to have surgery on Monday.

McQuaid was a second round pick in 2005 by Columbus.

Devils Place Cory Schneider On Injured Reserve

Cory Schneider was placed on injured reserve by the New Jersey Devils on Friday because of a lower-body injury.

Schneider is 4-1-0 with a 3.30 goals-against average and .907 save percentage.

New Jersey recalled goaltender Scott Wedgewood from Binghamton of the American Hockey League under emergency conditions to back up Kinkaid.

Oilers Place Leon Draisaitl On IR With Concussion Symptoms

Edmonton Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl was placed on injured reserve Monday as he deals with an eye injury that is creating concussion symptoms.

"He had an eye injury," coach Todd McLellan said Saturday. "The eye was swollen shut. Obviously, the eye is attached to the head, which leads to concussion-type symptoms now."

Erik Karlsson Will Make Season Debut Tuesday

Ottawa defenseman Erik Karlsson will make his season debut when the Senators host the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday night.

Senators coach Guy Boucher confirmed his captain's return to the lineup at Monday's practice.

Karlsson missed Ottawa's first five games of the season after undergoing offseason surgery to fix tendons in his left foot.

Golden Knights Place Fleury, Marchessault On IR

The Vegas Golden Knights placed goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury and forward Jonathan Marchessault on injured reserve Sunday, general manager George McPhee announced.

Fleury took a knee to the head in Friday's loss to the Red Wings. The NHL didn't think the hit was severe enough to take him off the ice as part of its concussion protocol, but Fleury has a history of concussions.

Marchessault suffered a lower-body injury Friday. Both players are expected to miss at least a week.

Zach Parise To Miss At Least Two Regular Season Games

The Wild will start the regular season without veteran left wing Zach Parise, who has been slowed by a back injury.

General manager Chuck Fletcher said after practice Monday that Parise would not travel to games at Detroit on Thursday and at Carolina on Saturday. Fletcher said Parise was "having a hard time getting over the hump." The 33-year-old played in no preseason games. The goal is for Parise to practice with the team next week.
